Stupak Amendment Means Nothing

Fellow pro-lifers have been sending e-mails celebrating the passage of the stupak amendment.  I'm not sharing in the celebration.  That amendment is nothing but a small fig leaf for the cowering blue dogs.  Their lack of testicular fortitude makes it apparent that it only takes a small one to cover them.

Note the language in this excerpt from the NY Times.  The Stupak Amendment imposes "tight restrictions."  It does not ban federal money from funding abortions. The loopholes are big enough to drive a herd of buffaloes through.
To save the health care bill she (Pelosi) had to give in to abortion opponents in her party and allow them to propose tight restrictions barring any insurance plan that is purchased with government subsidies from covering abortions.
Pelosi and her fellow liberal bloodsuckers will have their free abortions, either through federal funding of planned parenthood, the giant Stupak loopholes, whatever.
But Ms. DeGette, Ms. DeLauro and other defenders of abortion rights said they would nonetheless vote in favor of the health care bill and fight for changes in the final version, to be negotiated with the Senate.

I don't believe these lying bastards for a second.
And if you do, you haven't been paying attention.  A plague of liberals has been unleashed upon the nation, and they will destroy everything in their path.

Solution to Anti-Abortion Terrorism

By now, we've all heard about the murder of late-term abortionist George Tiller. Murdering and bombing in the name of God is rare in this country, but it is not unheard of. Without pausing to consider the motives of the perpetrators, some call it terrorism.

Abortion laws in this country have inflamed the religious sensibilities of the populace, and an infinitesimal percentage, egged on by Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and others, just can't control themselves, so great is their outrage. We saw the end result of this on Sunday.

The only way to extirpate this violence from our land forever is to completely and unequivocally outlaw abortion in all forms. Call it the Muslim Cartoon Precedent.

Time to follow the European-UN-US Liberal line of thinking and capitulate to the anti-abortion movement. Just as Jihadi hate-preachers and their religion cannot be blamed for Islamic terror, we cannot blame Chrisitanity, nor Rush, nor O'Reilly, nor the anti-abortion Christians for this crime. We must try to understand and empathize with those who lash out in religious fervor at the abortionists who so flagrantly transgress the laws of God.

Better yet, we must refrain from offending the Christians. The only way to do that is to ban this abhorrent practice. For, if O'Reilly is to blame for putting the gun in the murderer's hand, the act of abortion itself must be logically held as the root cause. For, without it, O'Reilly would not talk about it and the violently deranged would not dance to his deadly tune.

Outlawing all abortions is the only way to end this senseless violence!

I am Silverfiddle and I approve of this message.

Free Republic

I love Free Republic! It's an open forum of gun totin', bible thumpin' rednecks from all over the country. There are also libertarians, non-religious, bikers, union members and even the occasional troll, who is almost always treated politely.

Every now and then something really funny or strange pops up, like this. Enjoy!

Could anyone out there that's FAST with photo shop create a photo of a fetus in a taxicab with a turbin?

I want to use it against someone on another forum.

Thanks.

Yeah....well.

I have an argument with a pro-abortion idiot that thinks a tortured taxi-cab driver has rights but it’s ok to kill an unborn child.

Modern Day Joan of Arc

First Carrie Prejean, and now Mary Ann Glendon. Brave women are standing up for their religious principles in a very American way. According to the Boston Globe...
Harvard Law professor Mary Ann Glendon, one of the most prominent Catholic conservative intellectuals in the United States, announced yesterday that she would refuse a prestigious award from the University of Notre Dame rather than appear on the same platform on which President Obama is being awarded an honorary degree.
She cited the nominally-Catholic University's decision to bestow an honorary degree on the pro-abortion president. Amid the hubbub she has displayed admirable grace:
She said she was also unhappy that "talking points issued by Notre Dame in response to widespread criticism of its decision included two statements implying that my acceptance speech would somehow balance the event."

"A commencement, however, is supposed to be a joyous day for the graduates and their families," she said in the letter, addressed to Notre Dame's president, the Rev. John I. Jenkins. "It is not the right place, nor is a brief acceptance speech the right vehicle, for engagement with the very serious problems raised by Notre Dame's decision, in disregard of the settled position of the US bishops, to honor a prominent and uncompromising opponent of the church's position on issues involving fundamental principles of justice."

Others, like the Reverend Kenneth Himes of Boston College, view this as merely political gamesmanship.

"But one also has to say that there is a political game going on here, and part of that is that you demonize the people who disagree with you, you question their integrity, you challenge their character, and you brand these people as moral poison. Some people have simply reduced Catholicism to the abortion issue, and, consequently, they have simply launched a crusade to bar anything from Catholic institutions that smacks of any sort of open conversation."

With all due respect to Friar Himes, Professor Glendon has not demonized our president, nor has she branded him as moral poison. Abortion is viewed as an inherent evil by Catholic dogma, so it is no longer open to debate in a Catholic setting. Funny that a layperson would grasp what a cleric does not.

It should be noted that Rev. Himes opposed Boston College bestowing an honorary law degree upon Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Christian Abortions

Boston Catholic Hospital System Yields to Pro-Abortion FOCA Before it Happens

This is why I'm against religion-government entanglements. A religion cannot survive a government liaison with its integrity intact.

Remember that news story last year about the botched abortion where the baby survived and was callously left to die? It happened at Christ Hospital in Chicago, which is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. Killing babies in the name of Christ... The sick and the dying inside must be all that keeps God from striking that place down. Jesus turned over the tables in the temple for less than that.

WWJD? He sure as hell wouldn't put his name on a building where practitioners kill babies.

Why is an organization that professes to be Christian allowing this barbaric practice on its premises? Probably has something to do with federal funding. That's how it happens, folks. The government pushes its snout into a private-sector function, brings generous gifts, and Bingo! You're hooked, bent over, and Uncle Sam is letting you know who's boss. Can you imagine a hospital running nowadays without government funding? Don't call it socialism; this is more of a fascist technique.

Back to the headline. From LifeNews.com:
Boston,MA (LifeNews.com) -- Abortion advocates have yet to re-introduce the radical Freedom of Choice Act in this Congressional session, but the effects of the pro-abortion bill are already taking hold. That's because one Catholic hospital in Boston has agreed to go back on its pro-life policies in a merger that ultimately promotes abortion.

FOCA is a dangerous bill that, in its last form, would overturn hundreds of pro-life state laws and could be used to force medical centers to do abortions.

The nation's Catholic bishops have warned that one of the dangerous effects of FOCA is that it could result in shutting down Catholic hospitals that do not want to allow abortions on site.

A St. Louis-based company, Caritas has joined in a bid to provide government-subsidized health insurance in Massachusetts. Caritas Christi, is joining with Centene Corporation in a bid for the government contract that would include coverage for abortion.
Cardian Sean O'Malley, The Archdiocese of Boston's Bishop, has stated categorically that Catholic Hospitals will never engage in such abhorrent practices, and the agreement is not final. The diocese is investigating ways to improve health services without compromising church teachings. It's a complex world.

Catholic-sponsored abortion. That's change, and in the Obama Era, I can almost believe it.

Obama Oxymorons: Abortion Update

Schizophrenic, practical joker, or just stupid?

Pro-Lifers for Pro-Abortion Obama Update:

Last month President Obama rescinded the Mexico City Policy, freeing your tax dollars to fund abortions overseas. Now he is removing the Conscience Clause, forcing medical professionals to act against their religious beliefs. He's doing it all quietly, of course.Don't want to disturb the fantasy bubble of those supposedly pro-life Christians that voted for the him.

Catholics and Evangelicals for Obama maintained, against their religious teaching and common sense, that his anti-war stance trumped the abortion issue. Well, we’re still in Iraq, he’s bombing Pakistan, and ramping up combat forces in Afghanistan.

A religulous Democrat making abortions easier and fanning the flames of war in South Asia is change, I guess. Can you believe it?

OxyMorons for Obama: Pro-Abortion Catholics

The Obama OxyMorons are pouring it on. The latest craze is to believe that one can be anti-abortion and still vote for the pro-abortion Obama. I know, he talks anti-abortion, but he has voted for abortion every chance he got. Look at what he does, not what he says.

I will concede that a well-reasoned anti-abortion person could indeed vote for Mr. Obama, especially if abortion is not that voter's #1 issue or if there are other factors in play. The Catholic Church has said as much. But where the lunacy comes in is when Catholics, taking a cue from Archbishop Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco, claim to speak for the Catholic Church.

Douglas Kmiec has become a prominent self-appointed spokesman for the Catholic Church. An Obama supporter, he assures Catholics that it's OK to vote for the pro-abortion candidate.

He Is Wrong.

How do I know? Catholic bishops have said so. Catholicism is a religion with established doctrine and a visible hierarchy that explains and protects it. Bishops are the guardians of the faith. What they say goes. Now, you may disagree with a church being run that way, and indeed, you are free to worship where you want. But it is clear: Just as the US State Department is the official spokesman for our country to the world, the Catholic hierarchy is the official spokesman for the faith.

Kmiec and others err when they distort Catholic teaching on abortion. For Catholics, it is not a matter of personal judgment: If you sign up to be a Catholic you sign up to be opposed to abortion. Period. The church believes that it is always wrong except in extreme case like ectopic pregnancies. This differs from their view on war. The Catholic Church believes there can be such a thing as a just war, but there can be no just abortion. And speaking of war, lest anyone accuse the Catholic hierarchy of being Republican, the bishops are almost unanimous in opposition to President Bush's foreign policy in general and the Iraq war in particular.

Archbishop Chaput of Denver has set the record straight:
... Chaput labeled Barack Obama the "most committed" abortion-rights candidate from a major party in 35 years while accusing a Catholic Obama ally and other Democratic-friendly Catholic groups of doing a "disservice to the church."

"To suggest - as some Catholics do - that Senator Obama is this year's 'real' pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse," Chaput said according to his prepared remarks, titled "Little Murders."

While applauding Kmiec's past record, Chaput said: "I think his activism for Senator Barack Obama, and the work of Democratic-friendly groups have done a disservice to the church, confused the natural priorities of Catholic social teaching, undermined the progress pro-lifers have made, and provided an excuse for some Catholics to abandon the abortion issue instead of fighting within their parties and at the ballot box to protect the unborn."

Pro-Obama Catholics "seek to contextualize, demote and then counterbalance the evil of abortion with other important but less foundational social issues," said Chaput, who wrote a book this year, "Render Unto Caesar," about Catholics and politics.

If you are Catholic or Evangelical or belong to any church that is anti-abortion, you are nonetheless free to vote how you wish. This is a free country. But these OxyMorons go a step further and lie about what their church believes.

If you want to know the Philadelphia Phillies' perspective on instant replay, you go ask the Phillies organization, not a fan. If you want
to know what the US policy is on South Asia energy development, you ask the State Department. If you want to know what the Catholic Church believes, you don't ask a pro-Obama lawyer; you ask a bishop.

Pro-Life Music Video

Not all musicians are liberal freaks. There's Charlie Daniels, Alice Cooper, and a very talented buddy of mine. He should be a professional musician, but serves his country instead. He wrote and produced a really touching pro-life video and posted it on YouTube. Please check it out

Pope Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi, who understands Catholic teaching better than the Pope, assured Tom Brokaw this weekend that her pro-abortion beliefs in no way conflict with her religion. She's wrong. The Catholic position? Abortion a sin.

Pelosi, the Kennedys, Biden, and every other pro-abotion Catholic politicians oppose their church. And don't give me that "I'm not pro-abortion, I'm pro-choice" argument. You're either for it or you're against it!

Pro-abortion Catholic politicians are arrogance personified. And not for opposing their church, but for the weasel way they do it. If you're going to oppose your church's tenets, fine. This isn't the dark ages. But at least defend your position on it merits. Don't try to twist a 2000 year old belief held by billions of people.

The Pope, at 80 years old and with decades of theological study under his belt is wrong. Those great religious thinkers Pope Pelosi and Monsignor Kennedy are right. Oh, also, every printed word going back to early Christian writing of the second century? They're all wrong too. Pope Pelosi said so.

And they dare call President Bush arrogant?

Hot Air has a short, meticulously researched post on the issue. Please go read it if you want to see just how wrong Madam Speaker is on this issue.

Obama, Infanticide & Other Evils

David Freddoso, Bane of the Obama left for daring to dirty the Obamessiah's brilliant white robes, has written an excellent article about Obama's support for infanticide. He begins by describing a nurse's eye-witness account of cradling a four month old baby boy, victim of a botched abortion, and watching him die because Illinois law and hospital staff permitted it.

I think abortion is abhorrent, and words can't do justice to the evil of the Illinois infanticide law. But other things in the article caught my eye as well:

The hospital where the botched abortion turned into a baby killing is Christ Hospital, which is affiliated with the United Church of Christ. The sick and the dying must be the only thing keeping Our Heavenly Father from zapping that facility and everything in it to a crisp. Jesus turned over the tables in the temple over less than this. WWJD? He sure as hell wouldn't put his name on a building where practitioners inside kill babies.

Why is an organization that professes to be Christian allowing this barbaric practice on its premises? Probably has something to do with federal funding.

This is why I oppose all "faith based initiatives," regardless of who sponsors them. In every church and state argument, the specter of The Church controlling The Government is invoked. The cleared danger is The Government controlling The Church. Based on its track record, I don't want my government anywhere near my religion.

How could something like this happen in the Midwest? I know people in Illinois, I have family there. It is a state full of hard working, churchgoing, small town people with traditional values. How could they let such a law pass? Political apathy in the face of the corrupt Chicago Democratic machine that controls the state's politics. That seems to be the only answer. Dirty big city pols are so disgusting that people can't stand watching the political debauchery, so they turn off politics and go back to work.

Edmund Burke said all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. The good citizens of Illinois have proven that out. But in this case, evil also had help from a phony religious organization, the Illinois Legislature, and a young constitutional lawyer who defended it all named Barack Obama.
