From Cowboy Capitalists to Third-World Throngs

Cowboy Capitalism made us the greatest nation in history. Will a third-world clamor for a charismatic redeemer lead us down the road to loserdom, to join the ranks of our flaccid, declining, collectivist European cousins? Two smart men give us their take on what's happening to our society in two Wall Street Journal columns.

Dan Henninger reminds us of our greatness and the brave, frontier attitude that got us here. Fouad Ajami worries that Obamamania is driving our country towards "the politics of charisma that wrecked Arab and Muslim societies."

Here's Henninger's celebration of America, sure to encourage conservatives and disgust liberals.
The goal of Sen. Obama and the modern, "progressive" Democratic Party is to move the U.S. in the direction of Western Europe, the so-called German model and its "social market economy." Under this notion, business is highly regulated, as it would be in the next Congress under Democratic House committee chairmen Markey, Frank and Waxman. Business is allowed to create "wealth" so long as its utility is not primarily to create new jobs or economic growth but to support a deep welfare system.

This would be a historic shift, one post-Vietnam Democrats have been trying to achieve since their failed fight with Ronald Reagan's "Cowboy Capitalism."

Of course Cowboy Capitalism built the country. More than any previous nation in history, the United States made its way forward on a 200-year wave of upwardly mobile, profit-seeking merchants, tradesmen, craftsmen and workers. They blew out of New England and New York, rolled across the wildernesses of the Central States, pushed across a tough Western frontier and banged into San Francisco and Los Angeles, leaving in their path city after city of vast wealth.

The U.S. emerged a superpower, and the tool of that ascent was simple -- the pursuit of economic growth. Now China, India and Brazil, embracing high-growth Cowboy Capitalism, are doing what we did, only their cities are bigger.

Now comes Barack Obama, standing at the head of a progressive Democratic Party, his right hand rising to say, "Mothers, don't let your babies grow up to be for-profit cowboys. It's time to spread the wealth around."

What this implies, undeniably, is that the United States would move away from running with the high GDP, high-growth nations rising today as economic and political powers and move over to retire with the low-growth economies we displaced -- old Europe.

Fouad Ajami, the Arab world's greatest gift to America, draws some striking parallels between his beloved America and the Arab street of his boyhood.
Save in times of national peril, Americans have been sober, really minimalist, in what they expected out of national elections, out of politics itself. The outcomes that mattered were decided in the push and pull of daily life, by the inventors and the entrepreneurs, and the captains of industry and finance. To be sure, there was a measure of willfulness in this national vision, for politics and wars guided the destiny of this republic. But that American sobriety and skepticism about politics -- and leaders -- set this republic apart from political cultures that saw redemption lurking around every corner.

My boyhood, and the Arab political culture I have been chronicling for well over three decades, are anchored in the Arab world. And the tragedy of Arab political culture has been the unending expectation of the crowd -- the street, we call it -- in the redeemer who will put an end to the decline, who will restore faded splendor and greatness. When I came into my own, in the late 1950s and '60s, those hopes were invested in the Egyptian Gamal Abdul Nasser. He faltered, and broke the hearts of generations of Arabs. But the faith in the Awaited One lives on, and it would forever circle the Arab world looking for the next redeemer.

America is a different land, for me exceptional in all the ways that matter. In recent days, those vast Obama crowds, though, have recalled for me the politics of charisma that wrecked Arab and Muslim societies. A leader does not have to say much, or be much. The crowd is left to its most powerful possession -- its imagination.

It ain't over 'till it's over. Don't let the liberal politicians and their lap dogs in the press turn this into a third world country: Vote!

Obamanomics

Got this in an e-mail from a friend...

Today on my way to lunch I passed a homeless guy with a sign that read "Vote Obama, I need the money." I laughed.

Once in the restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as I contemplated how he and the homeless have the same political preference -- just imagine the coincidence.

When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight.

I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful.

At the end of my rather unscientific redistribution experiment I realized the homeless guy was grateful for the money he did not earn, but the waiter was pretty angry that I gave away the money he did earn even though the actual recipient deserved the money more.

I guess redistribution of wealth is an easier thing to swallow in concept than in practical application.
..

It ain't over 'till it's over. Don't let the liberal press run you off. Go Vote!

No Conspiracy, Just Greed

Big business wants Mexican truckers delivering goods here in this country. Why? For the same reason it supports illegal immigration: Businesses don’t want to pay a decent wage to the American worker. This isn’t a conspiracy, but it has spawned a hydra-headed monster of conspiracy theories.

Heard the one about the North American Union and that NAFTA Highway? Like all conspiracies, this one starts with a basis in fact then spirals off on a weird tangent, producing new twisted offshoots as it goes.

The NAFTA Superhighway is just a network of existing roads that are approved for the Mexican Truck Pilot Program. Here’s what the US Department of Transportation says about the program:
(The program is) designed to simplify a process that currently requires Mexican truckers to stop and wait for U.S. trucks to arrive and transfer cargo. … this process wastes money, drives up the cost of goods, and leaves trucks loaded with cargo idling inside U.S. borders.
All true, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. This is not some dark conspiracy to rob us of our sovereignty; it’s an open plan to rob the American worker of his rightful wages.

Businesses make money selling us cheap imported goods. Highly paid dock workers in Los Angeles cut into their profits. Further cutting into those profits are the “overpaid” truckers (all truckers are rich, right?)

So big business has a simple solution: Bring the goods into Mexican ports, where dock workers are paid a tenth of what they are paid here, and let Mexican truckers haul it north, cutting out the higher-priced American trucker in the process.

No conspiracy, just our government openly helping business screw the Mexican worker by paying him below market-wages while also screwing the American worker by driving his wages down in the process.

Do you really want your government to put Americans out of work so you can pay 5 cents less for a piece of imported crap?

I don’t either. I am not anti-business: That’s where the jobs come from. But I believe in free-market capitalism, not exploitation. Sarah Palin said it best when she described how she stared down the energy companies in Alaska and negotiated a better deal for the people. She didn’t demonize Big Oil, she recognizes it as an important engine for economic growth. She said something like this:

“They (the oil companies) have their job to do and I (the government) have mine.”

So true. It is big business’s job to make money and power our economy, and it is government’s job to keep them from raping us and our land in the process. Unfortunately, our government is not doing its job, and the American worker is getting shafted. Businesses can’t outsource certain kinds of manual labor and transportation that must be done here, so instead they bring in cheap foreign labor with our government’s blessing.

Conspiracy theories act as a red herring, masking the real story. Nutty conjectures involving black helicopters and UN takeovers discredit all efforts to expose the legitimate facts. This leads to the press, strangely acting as big business’s lapdog, to paint any and all who try to address these issues as conspiracy nuts.

Finally, all conservatives need to note that this plan was advanced by the Bush administration. It’s time we grow up and drop the hero worship of our politicians. It is unwise to hug any politician or party too closely. The constitution and our sovereignty are more important than any person or movement.

Obama -vs- The Constitution

Dostoevsky said,

"Without God all things are permissible."

Jean Paul Sartre declared that statement to be the starting point of Existentialist Philosophy. Those who love American democracy should ponder this starting point of political philosophy:
Without The Constitution all things are permissible.
Conservatives have unearthed and exposed a 2001 radio interview where Obama once again speaks favorably of redistribution of wealth. That dog won't hunt, even with lipstick. Voters are mad at Bush and determined to teach us all a lesson. Sad but true.

What I think is of greater concern is Mr. Obama's cavalier disregard for our constitution and the founders' original intent of those sacred words. Obama laments the fact that the Supreme Court
"didn't break free from the essential constraints that were placed on it by the Founding Fathers."
He still concluded, however, that he could indeed come up with a theoretical justification for redistribution of wealth through court mandate. This is scary.

The Constitution is literally all that stands between We The People and tyranny. Twist this document like a pretzel, reshape it like play-doh, and anything is possible: Taking guns away in the name of public safety, shutting up those who criticize government officials, eradication of property rights to benefit the poor...

Think I'm exaggerating? The erosion has already begun: Roe v. Wade established a constitutional right where previously there was none. Even honest pro-choice liberals will concede the case was poorly decided. The campaign finance law fathered by Senator McCain, the Kelo case that ruled government could seize private property for commercial purposes... All cracks in the foundation just waiting for a messiah with a jackhammer.

Bill Whittle at NRO has written an excellent piece on this. Here are some quotes he took from the interview:
And uh, to that extent, as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution — at least as it’s been interpreted, and Warren Court interpreted it in the same way, that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties: [It] says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf.

You know, I’m not optimistic about bringing about major redistributive change through the courts. The institution just isn’t structured that way.

So I think that, although you can craft theoretical justifications for it, legally, you know, I think any three of us sitting here could come up with a rationale for bringing about economic change through the courts.
This is a constitutional lawyer who has no respect for the document and the ideas it embodies. This is a man who sees constitutional law as an intellectual rubiks cube: twist it the right way and you can make it say whatever you want it to say, original intent of the Founding Fathers be damned.

Without God all things are permissible

Without The Constitution all things are permissible.

Golden Conspiracies

Is the Federal Government planning to demonetize the dollar and replace it with a new Mexican-Canadian-US currency known as the Amero?

Like all good conspiracies, this one is rooted in facts but quickly branches out into wild and wooly territory. Trying to cut through the tangle of information quickly overwhelmed me. Andrew E. Marshall has written an interesting piece on the issue. I noticed his website has articles by Pat Buchanan and America critic Howard Zinn. Odd combination.

There's also some guy named Hal Turner on a Spanish language Google video site flashing Ameros minted and sold by this website that he claims are made by the Denver Mint. The messages responding to his video are all from excited Latin Americans eager for the hated America's immediate downfall.

I don’t know who these people are, but it looks like they’re into gold and post-apocalyptic doomsday scenarios. Could they have some melanoma-related issues as well? I just don’t know…

Here is what I do know:

Businesses hate borders and the petty governments that guard them with their tangles of red tape. Commerce does not like currency exchanges; they are inefficient and act as a tax on trade. So it makes sense businesses would push for a common North American Union and a currency to go along with it.

Governments, believing they could maintain their sovereignty, could even see the benefits of such a scheme. This is especially true since government is infested with professionals plucked from the private sector.

What do I think?

I think this conspiracy stuff is cooked up by crafty devils who make money pitting groups against one another and selling gold to ignorant suckers. Yes, gold should be part of every investor’s portfolio, as the guy on the radio keeps reminding us…

… OK, so the US crashes and pandemonium ensues. How are you going to redeem your shares for the gold they represent? Your broker is face down in a pool of his own blood in some New York Skyscraper. Phones don't work and even FedEx ain't delivering. Looks like your portfolio could have used some reality... So let’s say you actually bought gold coin or bullion. How are you going to spend it? Where are you going to spend it? The neighborhood Safeway? No. It's been looted and bums are living there now. You will be carrying out ad-hoc transactions with scared people, predatory people…

I think we need to pay a little less attention to ball sports and Hollywood and a little more attention to current events and what our government is up to. The forces that move our economy and society are not mysterious, and everything is not a conspiracy. Don’t chalk up to malfeasance that which can be more easily explained by incompetence.

People with ideas make things happen. Sometimes these people have ulterior motives or bad ideas, or both. An educated, well-informed citizenry is the best defense against rotten ideas that violate our sovereignty. And don't forget to stock up on tinfoil...

Great Political Quotes

The only poll that counts is the one where you close the curtains and pull the lever. Don't let the Obama Worshiping press run you off. That is their goal: Discourage you, depress you and keep you from voting for an American hero.

Scotty McClellan is Still a Fat Weasel

News Flash: Fat Weasel with Darting Eyes Backs Obama.

Former Bush Administration spokesboob Scott McClellan is voting for Obama. You remember Scotty, the most inept miscommunications director to ever stumble his way in front of the White House Press corps.

Scotty was the most incompetent of all. I don't know how such a blubber-headed stumble bum made it into the communications business. Instead of standing at the White house Press Room podium, he should have been selling frozen treats out of the back of an ice cream truck.

His boobish ineptitude turned every White House press briefing into a pathetic cartoon. Scotty, as Porky Pig in a strange neighborhood, being chased round and round by the pack of rabid press hounds, eyes darting, not knowing whether to take a dump or go blind. If he ran, the reporter dogs tore chunks out of his rump. If he stopped, they took humiliating liberties with him. Yeah Scotty, you failed miserably in getting the President's message out, but it sure did make for some classic comedy.

Hopefully, Obama will find a place for him in his administration.

Welcome to Detroit

Cousin Silverfiddle sent me this e-mail joke. She thinks it's bi-partisan, but I think it's an allegory fit for all those blue bits on that county-by-county election map. Those blue areas' Democratic leadership has brought them higher unemployment, higher taxes and worsening economic conditions, but the keep voting the same losers in.

Anyway you look at it, this joke makes a good point about the ephemeral quality of election promises.

While walking down the street one day a US senator is tragically hit by a truck and dies.

His soul arrives in heaven and is met by St. Peter at the entrance.

'Welcome to heaven,' says St. Peter. 'Before you settle in, it seems there is a problem. We seldom see a high official around these parts, you see, so we're not sure what to do with you.'

'No problem, just let me in,' says the man.

'Well, I'd like to, but I have orders from higher up. What we'll do is have you spend one day in hell and one in heaven. Then you can choose where to spend eternity.'

'Really, I've made up my mind. I want to be in heaven,' says the senator.

'I'm sorry, but we have our rules.'

And with that, St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell. The doors open and he finds himself in the middle of a green golf course. In the distance is a clubhouse and standing in front of it are all his friends and other politicians who had worked with him.

Everyone is very happy and in evening dress. They run to greet him, shake his hand, and reminisce about the good times they had while getting rich at the expense of the people.

They play a friendly game of golf and then dine on lobster, caviar and champagne.

Also present is the devil, who really is a very friendly guy who has a good time dancing and telling jokes. They are having such a good time that before he realizes it, it is time to go.

Everyone gives him a hearty farewell and waves while the elevator rises...

The elevator goes up, up, up and the door reopens on heaven where St. Peter is waiting for him.

'Now it's time to visit heaven.'

So, 24 hours pass with the senator joining a group of contented souls moving from cloud to cloud, playing the harp and singing. They have a good time and, before he realizes it, the 24 hours have gone by and St. Peter returns.

'Well, then, you've spent a day in hell and another in heaven. Now choose your eternity.'

The senator reflects for a minute, then he answers: 'Well, I would never have said it before, I mean heaven has been delightful, but I think I would be better off in hell.'

So St. Peter escorts him to the elevator and he goes down, down, down to hell.

Now the doors of the elevator open and he's in the middle of a barren land covered with waste and garbage.

He sees all his friends, dressed in rags, picking up the trash and putting it in black bags as more trash falls from above.

The devil comes over to him and puts his arm around his shoulder. 'I don't understand,' stammers the senator. 'Yesterday I was here and there was a golf course and clubhouse, and we ate lobster and caviar, drank champagne, and danced and had a great time. Now there's just a wasteland full of garbage and my friends look miserable.

What happened?'

The devil looks at him, smiles and says, 'Yesterday we were campaigning... Today you voted.'

Citizens of the World, Unite! Vote Obama

Two more reasons to Vote McCain, courtesy of gallup.com:

1) It would dash the hopes of the
Euroweenies.

2) Misogynist, headcutting, America hating religious bigots in the civilizationally challenged
Middle East prefer Obama 2-1 over McCain.

Nothing would tell the world "Uncle Sam is Sorry" like an Obama victory.

Robbie Knievel Tickets

I got this in an e-mail:
I have 4 extra tickets for the Robbie Knievel (son of Evil Knievel) event at the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center this weekend if anybody wants them. He's going to try to jump 5000 Obama supporters with a bulldozer.

Let me know.

Gen. Powell: Obama Lacks Experience

Has anyone else caught how General Powell called Barack Obama inexperienced? Look at this quote from Meet the Press:
GEN. POWELL: And he is surrounding himself, I'm confident, with people who'll be able to give him the expertise that he, at the moment, does not have.
There you have it folks. The man who endorses him says he doesn't have the expertise he needs to be president.

Also, does the general seriously believe that the Republican party has shifted more to the right than when he served in the Reagan administration? I still greatly respect and admire General Powell, but this is beyond the pale:
And I look at these kinds of approaches to the campaign and they trouble me. And the party has moved even further to the right, and Governor Palin has indicated a further rightward shift.

Voting Democratic Causes Poverty

Poor people living in liberal Democratic sinkholes see no improvement in their economic status, but continue to blame conservatives. You can't even find a Republican in most of these places, so it's a mystery to me how they can be blamed.

Prime Example: Michigan lost 83,000 manufacturing jobs in the past decade. Where did they go? Mexico? China? No. They went to... wait for it... Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Georgia, the Carolinas, Virginia and Texas. All business friendly, low tax, job growth states. How exactly is George Bush and the evil Republicans responsible for Michigan's travails? Socialist, eat-the-rich policies implemented by Democrats drove those jobs away.

More proof that voting Democrat causes poverty: The following stats come from an article by Glen Beck of CNN headline news.

Question: What do the top ten cities with the highest poverty rate all have in common?
Answer: Democrat leadership.

Detroit , MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961

Buffalo , NY (2nd) hasn't elected one since 1954;

Cincinnati , OH (3rd).. since 1984;

Cleveland , OH (4th).. since 1989;

Miami , FL (5th) has never had a Republican Mayor;

St. Louis , MO (6th)... since 1949;

El Paso , TX (7th) has never had a Republican Mayor;

Milwaukee , WI (8th).. since 1908;

Philadelphia , PA (9th).. since 1952;

Newark, NJ (10th).. since 1907.

Einstein once said 'The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.'

It is the disadvantaged who habitually elect Democrats -yet are still disadvantaged... hmmm...

If you are wishing for hope & change, you better know what the salesman is selling.

Sue Here, Sue Now

Sue Here, Sue Now, is the liberal response to those who support immediate domestic energy production. Once the Totalitarian Trio of President Obama, Speaker Pelosi and Senate Leader Reid is in place you can be sure there will be no new drilling. The OPECkers must be giddy with glee as they look to November 4th.

Sure, Democrats let the drilling ban expire, but it's already raining lawsuits citing protection of polar bears, beluga whales, jumping mice and any other excuse enviro-radicals can get their hands on. The Bush Administration has given ammo to the Dems by making dubious endangered species declarations. So Democrats can say with a straight face they support more domestic energy production knowing damn good and well federal regulations and endless lawsuits prevent it from ever happening.

The Mercury News reports:

The vote Wednesday in the House of Representatives — and in the Senate on Saturday — dismayed environmentalists and delighted oil companies. Yet experts on all sides of the debate say it will be years — if ever — before any new drilling comes to California.

A buzz saw of political opposition, certain lawsuits and existing marine protections all combine to make California perhaps the most difficult place in America to build new offshore oil platforms.

The Totalitarian Trio, backed by radical environmentalist lawsuits, guarantees the status quo: We pay 4 dollars for a gallon gas, transferring hundreds of billions annually to people who hate us, while we sit on a treasure trove of oil and gas. Only a liberal Democrat could devise such a scheme.

Hope and Change, baby...

OxyMorons for Obama: Pro-Abortion Catholics

The Obama OxyMorons are pouring it on. The latest craze is to believe that one can be anti-abortion and still vote for the pro-abortion Obama. I know, he talks anti-abortion, but he has voted for abortion every chance he got. Look at what he does, not what he says.

I will concede that a well-reasoned anti-abortion person could indeed vote for Mr. Obama, especially if abortion is not that voter's #1 issue or if there are other factors in play. The Catholic Church has said as much. But where the lunacy comes in is when Catholics, taking a cue from Archbishop Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco, claim to speak for the Catholic Church.

Douglas Kmiec has become a prominent self-appointed spokesman for the Catholic Church. An Obama supporter, he assures Catholics that it's OK to vote for the pro-abortion candidate.

He Is Wrong.

How do I know? Catholic bishops have said so. Catholicism is a religion with established doctrine and a visible hierarchy that explains and protects it. Bishops are the guardians of the faith. What they say goes. Now, you may disagree with a church being run that way, and indeed, you are free to worship where you want. But it is clear: Just as the US State Department is the official spokesman for our country to the world, the Catholic hierarchy is the official spokesman for the faith.

Kmiec and others err when they distort Catholic teaching on abortion. For Catholics, it is not a matter of personal judgment: If you sign up to be a Catholic you sign up to be opposed to abortion. Period. The church believes that it is always wrong except in extreme case like ectopic pregnancies. This differs from their view on war. The Catholic Church believes there can be such a thing as a just war, but there can be no just abortion. And speaking of war, lest anyone accuse the Catholic hierarchy of being Republican, the bishops are almost unanimous in opposition to President Bush's foreign policy in general and the Iraq war in particular.

Archbishop Chaput of Denver has set the record straight:
... Chaput labeled Barack Obama the "most committed" abortion-rights candidate from a major party in 35 years while accusing a Catholic Obama ally and other Democratic-friendly Catholic groups of doing a "disservice to the church."

"To suggest - as some Catholics do - that Senator Obama is this year's 'real' pro-life candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse," Chaput said according to his prepared remarks, titled "Little Murders."

While applauding Kmiec's past record, Chaput said: "I think his activism for Senator Barack Obama, and the work of Democratic-friendly groups have done a disservice to the church, confused the natural priorities of Catholic social teaching, undermined the progress pro-lifers have made, and provided an excuse for some Catholics to abandon the abortion issue instead of fighting within their parties and at the ballot box to protect the unborn."

Pro-Obama Catholics "seek to contextualize, demote and then counterbalance the evil of abortion with other important but less foundational social issues," said Chaput, who wrote a book this year, "Render Unto Caesar," about Catholics and politics.

If you are Catholic or Evangelical or belong to any church that is anti-abortion, you are nonetheless free to vote how you wish. This is a free country. But these OxyMorons go a step further and lie about what their church believes.

If you want to know the Philadelphia Phillies' perspective on instant replay, you go ask the Phillies organization, not a fan. If you want
to know what the US policy is on South Asia energy development, you ask the State Department. If you want to know what the Catholic Church believes, you don't ask a pro-Obama lawyer; you ask a bishop.

Obama Temptation & How to Fight It

I have encountered a scarily large amount of middle-class, self-described moderate to conservatives who are seriously leaning to Obama. These are informed people who pay some attention to the news but who are not steeped in politics. Dane Stangler is a perfect example. His RCP article captures the conundrum quite well. Our job as conservatives is to talk them out of it with well-informed reasons.

My conclusion on these people is twofold: 1) They suffer from Bush fatigue and want, *sigh* "Change." Face it. President Bush has worn out his welcome even among many of us who think is a good, sincere man. 2) These voters do not realize just how liberal Senator Obama is. He votes like a redistributionist, pro-abortion lefty, but he talks like a mainstream moderate.

It is futile to try to defend President Bush or to argue that McCain is not Bush. Democratic propagandists, playing the media like Satan's Bagpipes, have already joined Bush and McCain at the hip. Game over.

I think the best way to convince our undecided friends is to raise the specter of a Liberal Supermajority, and provide details. The Obama-Pelosi-Reid Totalitarian Trio will run roughshod over all conservative opposition and implement the most radically liberal agenda since the Great Depression. If you think President Bush expanded government, you ain't seen nuthin' yet!

The Wall Street Journal makes the case:
- Medicare for All. They can't do it without raising taxes or increasing the debt. Do you want your Mom or Dad waiting a year and a half for needed heart surgery?

- Punish Business. Anti-business laws, taxes, and congressional inquisitions will kill job creation. Cause too much trouble for businesses and they will pack up their jobs and move elsewhere. Just ask Michigan.

- Return of Big Labor. Intimidation. No secret ballots in voting for or against a union. Attack on "right to work" laws and a return to mandatory union membership. This too kills jobs. Again, ask Michigan.

- Taxes. Do you really believe 95% of Americans will get a tax break? How will they pay for it? By the way, the bottom 35% pay no taxes now, so that means Obama and Pelosi will simply give them free money they've taken from you. Sounds like a bribe for votes scheme to me.

- Save the planet. Jobs-killing environmental laws. Carbon taxes. Liberal "green" industries subsidized by billions of your tax dollars

- Free Speech and Voting Rights. Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Michael Medved silenced via the Fairness Doctrine. Hollywood gets to keep yapping. Look what they've done already to Joe the Plummer just for asking a question. Felons will be given the right to vote. Ultra-liberal Washington DC will be given two Democratic senators and a Democratic congressman, increasing the Democratic majority
- Special interest give-aways. Pro-abortion, teachers unions, trial lawyers, you name it. They will all gorge themselves at the government trough. And all at your expense. Work hard. Your government needs your money.
For years, conservative/Liberal self-identification has consistently been roughly 60% conservative, 40% liberal. A solid majority consistently express the desire for less government and more personal autonomy in the choices they make for themselves and their families. Many of these people just don't understand that a vote for Obama is a vote for The Totalitarian Triangle that is determined to take America in the opposite direction.

You've got to do your part. Print a copy of the WSJ article and convince at least one fence-sitter.

Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road?

Why did the chicken cross the road?

BARACK OBAMA : The chicken crossed the road because it was time for change!

JOHN MC CAIN: My friends, that chicken crossed the road because he recognized the need to engage in cooperation and dialogue with all the chickens on the other side of the road.

HILLARY CLINTON : When I was First Lady, I personally helped that little chicken to cross the road. This experience makes me uniquely qualified to ensure right from Day One that every chicken in this country gets the chance it deserves to cross the road. But then, this really isn't about me.

SARAH PALIN: The chicken had to cross the road because he was not able to find a bridge. Alaskans do not build bridges to nowhere. If he wanted a bridge, he'd have to build it himself.

GEORGE W. BUSH : We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here.

DICK CHENEY : Where's my gun?

BILL CLINTON : I did not have sex with that chicken...

AL GORE: I invented the chicken.

AL SHARPTON : Why are all the chickens white? We need some black chickens.

DR SEUSS : Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told.

ERNEST HEMINGWAY : To die in the rain, alone.

GRANDPA: In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough.

ARISTOTLE : It is the nature of chickens to cross the road.

BILL GATES : I have just released eChicken2008, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your checkbook. Internet Explorer is an integral part of eChicken2008. This new platform is much more stable and will never reboot.

ALBERT EINSTEIN : Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken?

COLONEL SANDERS : Did I miss one?

Boomer Bust

I guess I'm not the only one wishing Boomers would just shuffle off quietly to Hippie Valhalla. The whiniest, most self-absorbed generation is apparently wearing out its welcome among others as well. And with good reason.

This is the generation that brought us Viagra commercials on TV during family hours, introducing our youngsters new and interesting phrases. This is the generation that mainstreamed porn, marketed slutwear to our daughters and encouraged our boys to be pimps.

I know, boomers are not the authors of our current social dysfunctions, but they were the libertines who stormed Bastille, unleashing the corrosive social forces that made these dysfunctions possible. Oh, and then as grownups they agnostically market this trash to the masses in worship of the almighty dollar.

We are now suffering through the ill effects of the "anything goes, if it feels good do it" culture this adolescent, incontinent generation has foisted upon us. Our political, social and religious institutions are crumbling. The level of vulgarity in everyday life is unprecedented and our inflated sense of egotistical self-entitlement knows no bounds. Instead of building upon the foundation of the Greatest Generation, boomers took a bulldozer to it and left a giant Woodstock-like mud pit in its place.

Baby Boomer Richard Berry gives this irresponsible, self-indulgent generation a good lambasting in his latest American Thinker
article.

The current market turmoil is a product of every bad trait the Boomer Elite has long exhibited in other social and political contexts: unbridled greed and hubris, exorbitant self-regard, breathtaking recklessness, insatiable appetite for immediate gratification, and a rollicking sense of entitlement.

Our efforts to be responsible citizens in this crisis are ridiculed and shouted down: exclude from the bail-out the pork and the payoffs to interest groups? How dare we! Include measures that might actually spur badly needed growth in the tough times now surely coming, like cuts in capital gains and corporate taxes? Leave the room!

This is all merely typical of the smug, cocksure Boomer Elite. This is a group that breaks things. It has set the wrecking ball to institutions that are the essential glue of our society (marriage and the family), the basis of our political system (federalism and the separation of powers), the engine of our prosperity (the free market), the guarantor of our freedom (the military), and the glory of our history (the Constitution, participatory democracy).
Unfortunately, we haven't heard the last of the Boomers, and they are sure to continue wreaking their self-righteous destruction for another 20 years or so. Meanwhile, we can only take solace in well-written pieces that lampoon this most worthless generation.

Thought For The Day

As the light changed from red to green to yellow and back to red again, I sat there thinking about life. Was it nothing more than a bunch of honking and yelling? Sometimes it seemed that way.

Democrats Nostalgic for the Great Depression

God bless those Democrats. They're so nostalgic. This is not a new Great Depression, but if we all try hard enough, we can make it one!

They long to take us back to yesteryear, when financial collapse ushered in an era of solidarity and equality. We were all in this together. All together in the crapper, but we were all together.

Ah, what a time it was: Hobos huddled around open fires down at the rail yard, bankers were jumping out of windows, and we spent more time at home with family because we had no money to feed our gas-guzzling, smog-belching automobiles. We flocked around radios
and hearkened to the voice of a beneficent father figure, worshiping at the feet of Big Government.

Yes, Big Government liberals, who were smarter that we were, made all our decisions for us. And Politico reports that the Totalitarian Trio of Obama, Polosi and Reid have plans to bring back the good ole' days .
With visions of a massive liberal majority in the next Congress and the power to remake economic policy for the next generation, Democrats are dusting off their New Deal history books and openly discussing the idea of re-engineering Depression-era agencies for the 21st century.

Several lawmakers want to bring back the Home Ownership Loan Corp., and others have discussed resurrecting the defunct Reconstruction Finance Corp., a federal program that made direct loans to businesses. Others see a lame-duck stimulus bill less as a short-term cash infusion for the economy and more as a long-term, government-driven jobs creator — a kind of modern Works Progress Administration that invests in infrastructure, bridges and roads.
Oh yea, they've got plans! We are not going through a depression, but the Totalitarian Trio will bring us a New Deal solution anyway. They just can't keep their pathological self-loathing to themselves:

We're bad, we're dirty, our carbon footprint is too big. We're racist and fat and too successful. Time to quash this jingoistic belief in American Exceptionalism and remake America to look and act more like the rest of the world...

... Oh, and they want to rescue the United States from the evils of Reaganism, free-market capitalism and conservatism. They blame the current debacle on Republicans to divert attention from the Democratic socialist policies that caused it. To drive a stake through the heart of conservatism and reestablish the dominance of we-say-so liberalism is the real agenda.

It will definitely be a Change. And we'll all be Hoping for an end to it once the nostalgic Democrats' crank up their big government, big spending, big intrusive solutions for every nook and cranny of our lives.

Time to Take Down the Bird Feeder

This is Hilarious. I nearly split a gut laughing. A few F-words, but the point is well taken:

Offer people freebies out of generosity and those freebies quickly turn into entitlements. And the entitled recipients can quickly turn surly and rude to their benefactors. Handouts corrupt the character of those receiving them and corrode our society.

If McCain loses, the Totalitarian Trio of Obama-Pelosi-Reid will have bird feeders everywhere. Better cover the BBQ Grill.

Broken Shackles

A young black man explains why he is no longer a Democrat and why he is not voting for Obama. Having "escaped the plantation," he also gives us an intelligent and entertaining lesson in what liberalism is really all about.

I am not qualified to talk about racism, but I like his "Chains on our Brains" message. Anyone who has bettered themselves in spite of a howling chorus of naysayers will identify.

This is a real free-thinker... Now, can we bounce a Country Club Republican out of his RNC position and put this man in his place? Why hasn't the RNC hired people like this?

Obamination Police State Tactics

Yes, this really happened...

Jessica Hughes, a former Marine from Lufkin, Texas, was rude to an Obama Campaign worker who made an unsolicited call to her cell phone. She can't stand Barack Obama and she said so in no uncertain terms. The next day, she gets a visit from the Feds claiming she had made death threats to the Exalted One. No phone recordings, no witnesses, just the word of a campaign worker can send the full force of our federal government to quash dissent.

Here's an easy question: Who is more believable, a mother and former Marine from Texas, or an Obama campaign zealot?

I thought so. Me too...

Fidelito's in Trouble

El Generalisimo Hugo Chavez's Movement Towards Socialism is becoming less a march and more a stagger, according to the Daily Telegraph.

This is a lesson to those who think state control is the answer. Chavez's stated goal was to pry the country from the greedy grip of the rich oligarchs, who had rigged the game to where they were the only winners, leaving the poor empty handed. Well, he routed the oligarchy, but now the game is rigged for his Socialist cronies and the poor are still empty handed. And the infrastructure crumbles...

Meanwhile, El Jefe Maximo has his state-run oil company producing food, furniture and domestic appliances since his socialism has destroyed the private sector economy.

Oil production has fallen from 3.2 million barrels per day to 2.4, due to mismanagement and crumbling infrastructure.
"There is a bottleneck in the Venezuelan production system," said Mazhar al-Sheridah, 68, an oil expert at the Central University of Venezuela. "It will cost at least $32 billion to build another three upgrading units and take some five years, meaning that Venezuelan production is stuck at current levels for a while yet."
State-sponsored populism, whether left or right, has failed everywhere it has been tried. Capitalism and democracy coupled with the rule of law works every time. Why are we clamoring for more of the former and less of the latter?

A Sewer Runs Throught It

Conservative columnist David Frum makes a clear point: It doesn't matter whether Barack Obama is a Marxist, or how well acquainted he is with Bill Ayers. What matters is that he has risen to national prominence from the political and cultural sewer that is The Democratic Machine of Chicago.

A Political Sewer
: Democratic corruption in Chicago is legend:
The Democratic Machine has raised voter fraud to an art form. Dead people voting, shady real estate
deals, and the famous patronage system that punishes government job seekers for belonging to the wrong political party. The illegal diversion of taxpayer money and abuse of power has spawned untold lawsuits and prosecutions, but even the legal system is suspect.
Third-world dictators have used Chicago as their model for decades.

A Cultural Sewer: Obama is locked in a mutual embrace with a culture that welcomes Marxist radicals and appoints them to prestigious community agitation boards and professorships. Unrepentant 60's terrorists are revered and given Citizen of the Year awards. This culture cheers the steady stream of anti-American diatribes roared from Christian pulpits and Nation of Islam platforms. And politicians populate the pews to earn street cred. Community organizers routinely shake down businesses via threats and intimidation.

Despite all the community activism, Chicago's poor minorities remain mired in grinding poverty and schools have not improved. Democrats control everything, but the liberal overlords train the masses to blame their problems on America, racism, Ronald Reagan, George Bush, mean Republican conservatives... Anything and anyone but themselves.

This is not a God Bless America Culture. It is a God Damn America Culture, and, disturbingly, the participants see nothing wrong with it.

Chicagoan John Kass gives us an inside view of Senator Obama's corrupt
culture.

This reminded me of an e-mail I got from an Illinois friend:

Body count. In the last six months 292 killed (murdered) in Chicago, 221 killed in Iraq. Sens.
Barack Obama & Dick Durbin, Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., Gov. Rod
Blogojevich, House leader Mike Madigan, Atty. Gen. Lisa Madigan
(daughter of Mike), Mayor Richard M. Daley
(son of Mayor Richard J. Daley).....our leadership in Illinois.....all Democrats.

Thank you for the combat zone in Chicago. Of course they're all blaming each other. Can't blame Republicans, they're aren't any!

State pension fund $44 Billion in debt, worst in country.
Cook County (Chicago) sales tax 10.25% highest in country. (Look'em up if you want).
Chicago school system one of the worst in country.
This is the political culture that Obama comes from in Illinois.
He's gonna 'fix' Washington politics?
Charles Krauthammer asks,
Why are these associations important? Do I think Obama is as
corrupt as Rezko? Or shares Wright's angry racism or Ayers'
unreconstructed 1960s radicalism?

No. But that does not make these associations irrelevant. They tell us two important things about Obama.

First, his cynicism and ruthlessness. He found these men useful, and use them he did. Would you attend a church whose pastor was spreading racial animosity from the pulpit? Would you even shake hands with -- let alone serve on two boards with -- an unrepentant terrorist, whether he bombed U.S. military installations or abortion clinics?

Most Americans would not, on the grounds of sheer indecency. Yet
Obama did, if not out of conviction then out of expediency. He was a
young man on the make, an unknown outsider working his way into Chicago politics. He played the game with everyone, without qualms and with obvious success.

Second, and even more disturbing than the cynicism, is the window
these associations give on Obama's core beliefs. He doesn't share Rev.
Wright's poisonous views of race nor Ayers' views, past and present,
about the evil that is American society. But Obama clearly did not consider these views beyond the pale. For many years he swam easily and without protest in that fetid pond.

DC has enough corruption and cynicism dressed up in stylish eloquence, it doesn't need the Chicago Machine. The average middle-of-the-road undecided voter knows this. But thanks to our press, which the Democratic party plays like a set of shrieking, growling, multi-toned bagpipes, the undecided voter doesn't know about Barry's Barrio and the stinking political and cultural sewer that runs through it.

Chinese Imperialism

Socialists, one-worlders, progressives and sundry America haters scream in righteous indignation at US imperialism, decrying our third world hegemonic depredations. Meanwhile, China continues its economic enslavement of Africa unmolested.

Peter Hitchens has written an expose on China's activities in Africa.
These poor, hopeless, angry people exist by grubbing for scraps of cobalt and copper ore in the filth and dust of abandoned copper mines in Congo, sinking perilous 80ft shafts by hand, washing their finds in cholera-infected streams full of human filth, then pushing enormous two-hundredweight loads uphill on ancient bicycles to the nearby town of Likasi where middlemen buy them to sell on, mainly to Chinese businessmen hungry for these vital metals.

Denis Lukwesa, deputy general secretary of the Zambian Mineworkers' Union, also backed up Sata's view, saying: 'They (Chinese) just don't understand about safety. They are more interested in profit.'

As for their general treatment of African workers, Lukwesa says he knows of cases where Chinese supervisors have kicked Zambians. He summed up their attitude like this: 'They are harsh to Zambians, and they don't get on well with them.'

But his claims were confirmed by a senior worker in Chambishi, scene of the 2005 explosion. This man, whom I will call Thomas, is serious, experienced and responsible. His verdict on the Chinese is devastating.

He recalls the aftermath of the blast, when he had the ghastly task of collecting together what remained of the men who died: 'Zambia, a country of 11 million people, went into official mourning for this disaster.

'A Chinese supervisor said to me in broken English, "In China, 5,000 people die, and there is nothing. In Zambia, 50 people die and everyone is weeping." To them, 50 people are nothing.'

Don't hold your breath waiting for liberal outrage at the red giant.

Obama, Pelosi, Reid: Totalitarian Triangle

The Wall Street pirates have blown a hole in the side of the US Treasury and now Democratic party looters are swarming through the breach.

Confident of an Obama victory, Speaker Pelosi and Senate Leader Reid plan to call a special session of Congress right after the election. The socialist agenda just can't wait.
House Democrats have announced plans for an economic forum on Monday "to help Congress develop an economic recovery plan that focuses on creating jobs and strengthening our economy."
A plan to create jobs? Pray it doesn't turn out like their plan to create more homeowners. That Democratic scheme has nearly ruined us.

But wait... There's more! They want to implement the Obama Agenda:
The candidate has said previously he favors $25 billion to help states meet their own needs, another $25 billion for roads, bridges and other infrastructure, and $65 billion for tax rebates paid for by a windfall profits tax on oil.
So they are going to rain down taxpayer money on fiscally irresponsible liberal states like California and Michigan while sticking it to "Big Oil." What do you think the windfall profits tax on oil will do to the price of gasoline and home heating oil?

With Democratic control of the White House and Congress, we're on a greased rail to socialist hell. If every conservative would try to convince just one middle-of-the-road undecided voter...

President Pelosi

I got this in an e-mail:

Much is made of McCain's age and crankiness, subtly invoking the specter of him dying in office and leaving us with a cute but inexperienced female naif as president...

These same people ignore the negative health factors facing the Obama-Biden ticket:

Obama smokes, and both of his parents died at an early age.
Joe Biden has had two brain aneurysms which could have killed him.

If they both died while in office that would leave Nancy Pelosi as president.

I can't think of a better reason to vote for McCain & Palin.

Investment Advice

Normally I avoid discussing any advice regarding buying or selling of stocks, but I felt this is important enough to share and warn you since this explosive situation might prove to be yet another ENRON. Please review any holdings you might have in the following stocks:

American Can, Interstate Water, National Gas Company, Northern Tissue Company.

Due to uncertain market conditions, I advise you to sit tight on your American Can, hold your Water and let go of your Gas. You may be interested to know that Northern Tissue touched a new bottom today and millions were wiped clean.

It's a tough market out there. Be careful!

The Devil's Bagpipes

The Democratic party plays the press like Satan playing his bagpipes.

Germans call Bagpipes a "Tootlesack." That struck me as quite comical when I first heard it from a drunken crowd of German Soldiers I was careening around with down Europe's cobblestone streets. The Scotsman who blew pipes for his British Army unit didn't like it too well though. It looked for a minute like there was fixin' to be a Queen's Own -vs- Bundeswehr throwdown. It all worked out OK because the English-speaking Germans couldn't cut through the angry piper's insults, which were wrapped heavily in a whiskey-soused burr. My Deutsches Freunden couldn't understand the whole bagpipe appreciation thing either. They hated the sound.

Bagpipe music: You either love it or hate it. To aficionados, it is an eerily haunting transport to windswept highlands and a bracing, courage-boosting call to battle. To detractors, it is a discordant clash of wheezes, snorts, and growls, with a bagful of tortured cats thrown in. One of my favorite Beverly Hillbillies moments was when Grannie grabbed her broom and set upon a man playing the bagpipes because she thought he was being attacked by a noisy monster.

The press is the Devil's bagpipes: A discordant hot air powered wailing of multifarious tones and squealings that somehow arrive at an evil, liberal harmony.

When the Democrats crank up Satan's Bagpipes, it feels like we conservatives are being attacked by a noisy monster. Meanwhile, liberals are happily dancing and singing along to the tune. It's their fighting song. It hearkens back to a time when we were all liberal and poor in FDR's America, where men were paid pennies to lean on shovels all day and the Feral Government controlled everything. Bankers were jumping out of windows and the Robber Barons who built our great railways were finally brought low by the great depression.

Why the Devil's Bagpipes? Because Muslims, Christians and Jews all know that Satan cannot create anything; he can only desecrate and pervert what God has created. And he can only do that with human cooperation. If that doesn't describe the press I don't know what does.

The press treats religion derisively, if at all, and believers are portrayed as superstitious buffoons. The only "Religious" people treated respectfully are those promoting gay marriage and other clearly anti-biblical ideas. Hollywood celebutard pronouncements are given the respect due to Moses descending from Mount Sinai.

Our stinking press can't even report basic facts without mischaracterizing them or adding their own little editorial comments. They can't help it: Most reporters have no real-world expertise. They earn a journalism degree and start reporting. Reporters of old at least started from an honest profession and some real-world knowledge that didn't come from radical Marxist professors.

So, am I saying the Democratic party is Satan? No. But The Prince of Darkness is more than happy to blow his pipes for them. So is the press evil? No. Like most of Satan's tools, they are clueless dupes who think they are doing good.

Where's Granny with her broom when we need her?

Banking Crisis Cartoon

Finally, someone has come up with an explanation of the banking crisis that is so simple even a Democratic voter can understand it. Great art is best expressed in the proper medium. The Mona Lisa was done in oils, David in white marble...

The artist that did this chose the perfect medium for this tragedy turned farce: Crudely drawn stick figure cartoons.

Please go see this, and pass it on to a liberal friend. They may actually learn the truth by accident. There are some bad words in it, and we all know liberals love naughty language!

Imagine Life Under President Obama

Let's take a moment and imagine life under Our Dear Leader Obama. It's easy to do... liberals are one of the most predictable people around. All you have to understand is what groups give them money, their greed, stupidity, and vitriolic hatred for anything traditionally American.
What would life be like under Obama? Imagine the Clinton Administration... on steroids and crack.
Here's a likely list of events during the Obama Administration. Remember, you read it here first!

Economy:
  • FDR-like federal programs that will extend this economic downturn longer, and federal debt even higher
  • This economic downturn will be Obama's 9-11

Energy:

  • Greater dependence on foreign oil
  • Corporate welfare to "alternative energy" firms

Taxes:

  • Significantly more when you add in the costs of liberal regulation and hidden taxes
  • More IRS enforcement funding
  • Aggressive IRS auditing of conservative media and groups

Judges:

  • One or two very liberal appointments to the Supreme Court
  • A flood of liberal federal judge appointments

New Laws:

  • A Canadian-style Hate Crimes bill passed
  • A "Fairness" doctrine bill passed (but won't be called that)
  • Internet free speech stifled

Department of Justice:

  • A turn of focus from Al Qaeda terrorists to citizens simply exercising their rights
  • Venal enforcement of federal law
  • A likely "Ruby Ridge"-type incident early in Obama's first term
  • A mass firing of federal prosecutors

Foreign Policy:

  • A policy of appeasement to terrorist states
  • A UN-led bush war or two
  • UN's LOST treaty signed

Our Military:

  • Remember the "Meals on Wheels" of the 1990's?
  • Military culture upended and made politically correct, morally corrosive
  • Good officers and NCOs driven out
  • Bad, liberal Generals confirmed by Congress - the damage will last decades

Expect a very intrusive Census form in a couple of years. Black reparations? Amnesty for Illegals? Don't be surprised!

Man Shot for Wearing Obama Shirt!!!

Why do the weird attacks happen mostly in Europe? Over here, when someone comes unhinged, it's with a high powered rifle and by God they make sure people know they're PO'd.

On the Olde Continent, a perpetrator will throw a pie in some government poobah's face or pepper someone with a BB gun, which later gets describes more ominously as a gas-powered ball bearing firearm. Then there's your drunken soccer hooligan mob swarm, 16th century sword attack or butter knife stabbing.

The London Daily Mail reports:
Dube Egwuatu was buying a mobile telephone top-up card...when the gunman confronted him and glared at the top, which carries an image of the Democrat US presidential candidate underneath the legend 'Believe'.

The man then launched into a tirade of racist slurs, shouting 'I f***ing hate n*****s' and urging 36-year-old Mr Egwuatu to leave the shop with him.
The attacker then fired the gas-powered ball-bearing pistol three times, hitting the civil servant in the face, hand and shoulder.
Translation: An unemployable skinhead with a 3rd grade education plinked a black immigrant with a BB gun.

Missing from the story was the reaffirmation that world citizen Obama really is the World's candidate. Throwing off our moonshine-guzzling, racist hick past and electing Mr. Obama is the only way to prevent more of these egregious BB gun attacks.

Ignore the Facts--Vote Democrat

I love Dr. Thomas Sowell. He knows how to cut to the chase. He provides a concise critique of how Democrats caused our financial calamity and now use a sympathetic press to blame conservative capitalism. First he establishes the facts:

It was liberal Democrats, again led by Dodd and Frank, who for years pushed for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to go even further in promoting subprime mortgage loans, which are at the heart of today's financial crisis.

Alan Greenspan warned them four years ago. So did the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers to the President. So did Bush's Secretary of the Treasury, five years ago.

Yet, today, what are we hearing? That it was the Bush administration "right-wing ideology" of "de-regulation" that set the stage for the financial crisis. Do facts matter?

Next he shows how the reporters are uninterested in presenting these facts. Our press is content to let Democrats play them like a lying, liberal accordion, wheezing out the same tired refrains. Worse, the GOP is too cowardly or too stupid to fight back.

Facts don't matter much politically if they are not reported.

The media alone are not alone in keeping the facts from the public. Republicans, for reasons unknown, don't seem to know what it is to counter-attack. They deserve to lose.

But the country does not deserve to be put in the hands of a glib and cocky know-it-all, who has accomplished absolutely nothing beyond the advancement of his own career with rhetoric, and who has for years allied himself with a succession of people who have openly expressed their hatred of America.

Go read Dr. Sowell's entire commentary here.

Washington-Wall Street: Finishing What Al Qaida Started

Americans may be unhappy with the Wall Street bailout, but it has given encouragement to a beleaguered Al Qaida.
"The enemies of Islam are facing a crushing defeat, which is beginning to manifest itself in the expanding crisis their economy is experiencing," said a stinking, 7th century misogynist Al Qaida spokesturd...
One of Bin Laden's stated goals was to bring financial ruin to the United States. The wackadoos who think 9/11 was an inside job should drop that nonsense and focus on the financial headlines instead. Osama himself couldn't have planned it any better.

This failure was an inside job, but the evidence clearly indicates that the perpetrators were ignorant dupes.

Bill O'Reilly is a Boob

Everybody has heard about Bill O'Reilly unloading on Barney Frank last week. Although entertaining to some, O'Reilly's rude tirade did absolutely nothing to advance whatever point he was trying to make. He looked stupidly unhinged, making Barney Frank appear responsible and reasoned in contrast. But it helped his ratings, which is all that matters.

Getting to the bottom of an issue is not the point of The Factor or any other TV program. The purpose is to keep us stirred up and watching. It's a soap opera with a never ending string of cliff-hangers. And that's too bad. The nation needs reasoned political discourse, but instead we get verbal WWF. O'Reilly and the rest of the TV blabbermouths are part of the problem, not the solution.

Even a country hick like me knows how to expose the Franks and Pelosis for what they are: Simply ask them to explain what caused this crisis. Don't let them speak in generalities; make them define their terms. Then ask them to logically step us down the line from cause to effect. They wouldn't be able to do it. The first problem would be defining those irresponsible Bush economic policies they keep talking about.

President Bush's only contribution to this debacle was trying to be a "compassionate conservative," whatever the hell that is. As Oklahoma Senator
Dr. Tom Coburn says, it's not compassion if your doing it with money coerced from other people.

No Democrat or progressive has been able make a logical case that "Bush economic policies" or deregulation caused this crisis. They just mumble the words and the press nods its head knowingly. Nobody has asked them to explain this belief.

In contrast, conservatives have made a logical argument explaining how liberal policies foisted on lenders, aided and abetted by Fannie and Freddie, have brought us to this point. Did Wall Street greed contribute? Yes! And conservatives have said so.

Who has the logic, who has the reasoned argument that is supported by provable facts? Only the conservatives. Liberals have white-hot anger and passion. And Bill O'Reilly, face red as a tomato, happily joins them, thereby blowing a great opportunity to expose Barny Frank as the dirty, lying pol he is.

Thanks Bill. Who's looking out for me? It sure as hell ain't you.
