Todd Keister has written a most excellent article. Although he is spot on, it depresses me to read it and see the condition we're in
"The time has come for classical liberals to light the way and lead the fight defend western civilization and human freedom from the strangulation of collectivism; the time has come for us to justify for posterity our brief moment on this Earth, and do all that can be done to save the last best hope for human liberty."
Now that's a big tent message I could be on board with.
This is the way forward. And to the extent that the GOP does not deliver, I will be working with Democrats and all parties necessary to make this much more genuine path to progress a reality.
The fact that both parties have trampled on my liberty and don't want to be honest about its consequences is exactly why they both need my support and my loyal opposition. When it comes down to it, I love America and liberal democracy and classically liberal values much more than I do or will ever love any party.
Yup. Our current dem-repub political establishment is a two-headed monster. In Glenn Beck language, both are fighting it our at the tyranny end of the spectrum. Who will pick up the classical liberal fight? So far, I see neither party stepping up.
