The last British World War I veteran just died last week. Frank Buckles, America's last WW I vet, is still going strong at 108.
WW II vets are dying at a rate of about 1,000 a day. A group of patriotic men, recognizing this, wrote a tribute to these veterans. It's very good. I can't post the video here, but you can see it at this link: Before You Go.

I ran into a father at church and his son was a marine and just got out. He did spend a alot of time Iraq and lost a close friend-to my understanding from his father. The young man is now and man. I told his father I always prayed for his sone and never forgot him. The father choked on pride, Now the young man is fighting his demons.
Veterans understand other veterans and god bless the last one of a era.
Does the US gov't take care of veterans at all? In Canada that guy would have a team of psychologists, doctors, counsellors, et al.
I like America, I just don't like what the religious right (who represent all but the care for the poor, weak, etc... aspects of the bible) have done to it.

By the way it is the religious Reich...I don't like religious extremiest but also I beleive in helping someone up and not out.

I amowed over $1000 by a refugee who came from Iran last year. Aside from that I found him work, and found him a place to stay (nevermind showed him around town, drove him to work when he needed to and hadn't figured out the buses, etc...).
You would say I am making him dependent on me by loaning him over$1000 but the truth is he needed it.
The whole teach a man to fish thing is great and very true, but I acknowledge it more so than any fucking conservative. Conservatives neither give out fish or teach fishing lessons to make a long story short.
