Because he believes in grand government schemes cooked up and implemented by cognoscenti rather than letting people make their own decisions. Secondly, he has no regard for the constitution, or he is purposely stupid about its meaning. This is a dangerous combination
Population Bombs and Other Progressive Power Grabs
Zombietime has the definitive summary on his population control views, complete with page scans from the book Holdren wrote with the Ehrlichs of "The Population Bomb" fame. If you want to understand the issue completely, along with rebuttals from the Obama camp, go read that article.
Chris Mooney at Science Progress mounts a defense of Holdren, but the best he can come up with is that Holdren, in his book, was merely presenting an array or resume of population control methods, not actually advocating any of the abhorrent practices. Read his article then go to Zombietime and decide for yourself.
Holdren's Constitutional Ignorance
My criticism of this man is aimed at his obvious constitutional ignorance. Here is what Holdren wrote on page 838 of the 1977 Book, Ecoscience:
Individual rights. Individual rights must be balanced against the power of the government to control human reproduction.How did congress let this constitutionally ignorant man assume an executive branch position? No right to reproduce in the constitution? Well, there's no right to smoke cigarettes, write a book or get an abortion in there, either.
Some people—respected legislators, judges, and lawyers included—have viewed the right to have children as a fundamental and inalienable right. Yet neither the Declaration of Independence nor the Constitution mentions a right to reproduce.
Where the society has a “compelling, subordinating interest” in regulating population size, the right of the individual may be curtailed.
The Constitution is not an exhaustive list of our rights. It is a contract between the people, the individual states, and the federal government that was set up to serve them.
Consider the 10th Amendment:
The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.Holdren and his ilk have is bass-ackwards
Our rights come from God, not the government. Holdren, good progressive that he is, has it exactly backwards. In his worldview, Government is all-powerful and the rights of the people are limited.
WRONG!
The Constitution limits the powers of government to what is stated in the document and acknowledges that the rights of individuals can only be circumscribed in specific instances. For a good, short commentary on this amendment, see Findlaw.
Progressives: Wrong on Eugenics, Wrong on Population Predictions, Wrong on Global Warming
That these neo-Malthusians were oh so wrong about the "population bomb," that was supposed to have killed millions by now, should give us pause as we consider the hysterical global warming claims. Predictive science is only as good as the models. And global warming advocates, like the overpopulation screamers before them, are working off of simplistic and highly speculative models with more gaps than data.
Also, ask Europe, Russia and China how population control is working out. A preponderance of old people with no one to care for them, and in Europe's case, people from other parts of the world come in to fill the vacuum, fundamentally changing the continent's culture.
This is why grand progressive schemes should always be viewed with skepticism.

People like Holdren are the perfect example of the crap coming out of our public school system, and they are the reason America is going down the tubes.
Once again, I repeat, there are three ways to save our Constitutional Republic, having states secede from this rogue Union en mass, an open armed revolution, or third a military coup.

Redneck Ron, I want our Constitutional Republic back no matter what it takes. It has been proven time and again that we can't win at the ballot box because both political parties have morphed into one. We can't count on impeachment because Congress has to bring articles of impeachment and since the Democrats are in the majority, they will never do it. Therefore, that leaves just the three alternatives I have listed above.
America cannot afford to do nothing.
Rev-I think your stepping back in time in away saying that equal rights should have never happened. This is only a comparison not that you beleive that way.

The rise of urban versus rural communites coming to head?
The failure of the Republican'ts party lead to the rise of left wing democraps rise to power?
The rise and support of ethnic diversity leading to polarization away from the idea we are all americans?

Cutting back on the harvest of tress in the US leading to disappear of the rain forest accross the world?
I think the answer to all the above is yes. The wave of socialism is on the rise do to the failure the republican party and it was strength of the urban vote that made the difference of Obama getting elected. The economic problem happened during a Republican adminstration and started under democratic administratin. Not saying Obama is bad man but his policies are based on urban experience versus the rural. The rural committee is last to benefit from any economic upswing and first to be affected by its down swing.
Now that the anti-science, superstition-based initiative presidency is over, we need Manhattan projects to make us great again and boost us out of this Grotesque Depression. First we must provide free advertising-based wireless internet to everyone to end land line monopolies. Better yet, renationalize the telephone companies like in 1917 and now put them and the DTV fiasco and the internet under a renationalized post office. Then we must criscross the land with high speed rail. Because bovine flatulence is the major source of greenhouse gases, we must develop home growable microbes to provide all of our protein. Then we must create microbes which turn our sewage and waste into fuel right at home. This will end energy monopoly by putting fuel in our hands. We must finally join the metric system and take advantage of DTV problems to create a unified global standard for television and cellular telephones instead of this Anglo Saxon competitive waste. We must address that most illness starts from behavior, especially from parents. Since paranoid schizophrenia is the cause of racism, bigotry, homelessness, terrorism, ignorance, exploitation and criminality, we must provide put the appropriate medications, like lithium, in the water supply and require dangerous wingnuts who refuse free mental health care to be implanted with drug release devices. Churches should be licensed to reduce supersition and all clergy dealing with small children should be psychiatrically monitored to prevent molesting. Osama bin Laden and Timothy McVeigh were the ultimate superstition based initiatives. Aborting future terrorists and sterilizing their parents is the most effective homeland security. Preganancy is a shelfish, environmentally desturctive act and must be punished, not rewarded with benefits, preference and leave. Widen navigation straits (Gibraltar, Suez, Malacca, Danube, Panama and Hellspont) with deep nukes to prevent war. In order to fund this we must nationalize the entire financial, electrical and transportation system and extinguish the silly feudal notion that each industry should be regulated by its peers. Technology mandates a transformation of tax subsidies from feudal forecloseable debt to risk sharing equity. Real estate and insurance, the engines of feudalism, must be brought under the Federal Reserve so we may replace all buildings with hazardous materials to provide public works. Insects, flooding and fire spread asbestos, lead and mold which prematurely disables the disadvantaged. Disposable manufactured housing assures children are not prematurely disabled and disadvantaged. Because feudalism is the threat to progress everywhere, we must abolish large land holdings by farmers, foresters or religions and instead make all such large landholding part of the forest service so our trees may diminish greenhouse gases. Darwin led to the worst colonial, militarist, attrocity and stock market abuses in history - Lamarkian inhertiance and mitochondrial DNA show that Darwin was not all he is crackered up to be. We must abolish executive pay and make sure all employees in a company are all paid equally. We must abolish this exploitative idea of trade and monopoly and make every manufactured disposable cottage self sufficient through the microbes we invent. Southern Oligarchs destroyed the Democarts in the sixties and destroyed the Republicans this decade - they would not allow viable candidates like Colin Powell, Mitt Romney or Condi Rice to even be considered!
