Obama-Rama-Ding-Dong

Time to drop the hyperbole. Calling President Obama and the Democrats' plans socialism smacks of hysterical ranting, like the leftards calling President Bush "Hitler" all the time.

President Obama is a pro-abortion, pro-union, anti-gun, nationalized health care, big government, punish the rich, spread it around liberal. According lefty mag Salon and unwashed socialist Robert Reich, his progressive budget is a wonderful thing. This is liberalism, European-style, and it will take an effective 85% tax rate to fund it.

I now apologize for poo pooing my conservative friends' fervent criticisms of Barack Obama. I heard part of his speech before congress on the radio and saw part of it on TV. Scary. Bill Clinton is a sputtering, trouserless Porky Pig next to this man. President Obama may be the greatest political orator in our nation's history. He looks good, he sounds good, and, oh what style! I could hear him winking and nodding to his Dem friends as I listened to his political tour de force on the radio.

He rhetorically threw an exclusive, chummy arm around congressional democrats with this line, which drew a rousing cheer:
With the deficit we inherited, the cost of the crisis we face, and the long-term challenges we must meet, it has never been more important to ensure that as our economy recovers, we do what it takes to bring this deficit down.
Yes, Senator Obama and all those Democrats had nothing to do with the financial and fiscal ruins that surround us. Why, they were the very picture of fiscal rectitude, pinching taxpayer pennies as Bu$hco blew all that money! ... and everybody believes it because Obama said it. That's Clintonesque X10.

No piece of populist demagoguery would be complete without an impish nose tweak administered to one of his most cogent critics, Republican Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina:
And I think about Ty'Sheoma Bethea, the young girl from that school I visited in Dillon, South Carolina - a place where the ceilings leak, the paint peels off the walls, and they have to stop teaching six times a day because the train barrels by their classroom.

She has been told that her school is hopeless, but the other day after class she went to the public library and typed up a letter to the people sitting in this room. She even asked her principal for the money to buy a stamp. The letter asks us for help, and says, "We are just students trying to become lawyers, doctors, congressmen like yourself and one day president, so we can make a change to not just the state of South Carolina but also the world. We are not quitters."
Did you see how Michelle hugged and squeezed, then hugged again that young girl?
"We're so proud of you, honey. You saw that leaky roof and peeling paint and ran right to Washington, to the White House no less, with your local problem! That's right, don't bother picking up a bucket of paint and a brush yourself, or asking your dad or men in the neighborhood to fix up that school. Don't waste your time petitioning the hateful right-wing governor or your racist state legislators. Run right to Uncle Sugar, he'll take care of you."
President Barack Obama is a force of nature, and he is ushering in an era of liberalism the scope of which would make FDR blush. And he will take care of us all. Elections have consequences, as the Lexus drivers with Hope bumper stickers are soon to find out.
