We all know the standard boilerplate answers: They're bravely doing the right thing for the public, gotta keep the nutroot base happy, etc.
A democratic operative offered a surprisingly candid answer:

I say the author of the quote is dead-on acccurate.
I'm curious about the obligatory personal demonization of Democratic leaders: Pelosi, Reid, Obama, Kerry, Daschle, Gore. Why must everything include some bastardization of their names? Do reds think names have magical power?

It's called humor... Ridiculing our overlords isn't illegal, yet.
That and the thousands of other examples out there. My last sentence was attempted humor as well. Damn the internets - they're not good for everything.
OK, and for the record, I don't think any of the people you mentioned are evil. I just think they are sincerely wrong. Now, Soros... Evil!
