Excellent Limbaugh Summary... By a Brit, No Less!

Toby Herndon has the best Rush summary I've seen so far.  He sums the issue up nicely and provides buku links.

Here's a short excerpt that summarizes how these virulent (and completely made-up) quotes got into the national bloodstream:
Trouble is, he didn’t say either of these outrageous things.

And it wasn’t difficult to check, as protein wisdom shows here. They originated from, er, Wikipedia and Wikiquotes. Both quotes ended up in this book – a hit job that doesn’t cite any sources. They’re also included in this internet list posted a year ago and endlessly ripped off ever since.
I love this trenchant dig at our lazy, biased press:
The irony is, of course, that the people reporting this as fact are the same types who are always denouncing bloggers and the internet as forces of evil intent on destroying proper journalism – proper journalism being the kind that involves checking facts.
In the case of Rush Limbaugh, however, it seems to be enough that the intention (i.e. to show the talk radio host is a racist) is considered pure.

British reporters in America...  Doing the work American reporters just won't do...

Yeah...between this piece and Mark Steyn's, I just have to wonder what they're teaching in J school these days. They certainly didn't teach me to be a shill for anyone.

I think J school is bogus anyway. Back in the old days, few people started out being a journalist. Reporters had life experience (and had often failed, which is what led them to the profession).

Now, I imagine they must issue to the newly graduated crusaders a cape along with the sheepskin.

I don't often listen to talk radio.

That said, I do try to keep up with the criticisms of Rush Limbaugh. Obviously, the left is very, very fearful of him; he's having an effect and exposing the Dem Party for all the corruption and power-grabbing it is.

The left is certainly not making up stories out of whole cloth so as to discredit any conservative.

PS: Journalism today is a joke.

Many days, I don't even bother to open a mainstream newspaper.

I don't get a chance to listen to much radio either, but my gut says Rush right, left wrong.

If they're charging him with racism, they need to bring the facts. Put up or shut up, lefty screamers!

I think the liberals knew they could get the upper hand and they did. This is the game that Rush Plays, "gets paid quite handsomely for" got the burnt this time. Now I am sure that blogs and crying will continue for awhile until the next Rush problem occurs. You got to love this-politics pure and simple. 1/100th of his money?

I think libs despise Rush because of the absurd lengths he makes them reflexively go to to level their racism charge. They sense this source of ammo gets seriously deplenished by every episode where they just can't help themselves.

SteveH nailed it. Rush is accused of race baiting, but what he's really doing is lib baiting, and they fall for it every time. And they do look stupid taking the bait, while Rush attracts even more attention and makes more money

(Insert evil laugh here) Bwaahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
