GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Three teenage girls who allegedly sent nude or semi-nude cell phone pictures of themselves, and three male classmates in a Greensburg Salem High School who received them, are charged with child pornography. Police said the girls are 14 or 15, and the boys charged with receiving the photos are 16 or 17.The girls are not children who were taken advantage of by some pervert, and a nude picture is not pornography. This is not child pornography; just stupidity. And the authorities who are charging these youngsters are piling more wood upon this bonfire of stupidities. I bet the parents of the young "child pornographers" aren't too bright either.
It's time we stopped giving the stupid the attention they crave and instead let the consequences of their behavior run its Darwinian course.
Took naked pictures of yourself and now they're everywhere? That's not a crime; it's stupidity. Now live with the shame and embarrassment, or go into the adult entertainment industry; you're future's wide open. Hopefully you'll learn a lesson, and maybe, just maybe, the tittering, slack-jawed gapers and whisperers will learn something as well: Probably that you're a moron who's an easy target for all manner of sly depredations.
By the way, there's an easy way out for the young smut peddlers: Call the pictures art and get the ACLU involved. The cops and the school will collapse like a house of cards.

All this sexual crime insanity has falsely given everyone the impression that theres a molester behind every tree. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Just more male bashing in this society disguised as concern.

"All this sexual crime insanity has falsely given everyone the impression that theres a molester behind every tree."
I certainly do not believe that there are molester behind every tree, but putting naked pictures of oneself on line for the world to see is certainly not the smartest thing one can do.

I presume there is more to the story than simply taking and sending pictures. Or have we devolved to the point at which I can be charged for receiving something, the sending of which is out of my control? Although I suppose the boys, being boys, are guilty on not deleting them immediately.
A more pertinent question would be under what "probable cause" did the school have the right to go through everything stored on the phone? They obviously weren't storing electronic drugs or weapons in their phones. I fail to see how having admitted "that there was no evidence of inappropriate activity on school grounds or during the school day other than the violation of the electronic devices policy" They could possibly justify searching the electronic files on the phones. Might as well charge the school officials also... after all they were looking at the pictures.

Yeah, this is obviously bullshit, Silverfiddle. Just heard about this on the way home. The women talking about the case on the radio both thought this it was ridiculous, too.
That's a good sign, I hope, for some maturity on these issues.
I think the bottom line is: do we want to me more like Iran or more like America? All I'm gonna say is that I'm no fuckin' Shia (no offense to Allah and friends). I'm tired of Americans acting like the scared little punks who stone women and children to death.
We're stronger than that. Time we acted like it.
"I'm tired of Americans acting like the scared little punks who stone women and children to death." Ben, you missed the whole point, nobody in America is talking about stoning women and children

What is the difference between nudism and pornography? It is the act or how is applied. The moral majority or the Moral Reich is monolithic organziation that thiknks they have power but usually just a=wasted words on a TV show trying to milk those taht BELEVE IN THEIR WORD for MONEY!!
The Americains in the Catholic church are looked up the demise and love. We supoort the church with all our heart and money but can be a real pain in ths side. American Catholics just don't role over to Church politics but will be the firest to defend her. OH What happend to the rest of catholics of Europe? Redneck Ron
No, I agree, Joe. I'm not being literal. What I'm saying is that we have become timid and scared of our own shadows, around this issues, instead of having some common sense around young people and sexuality.
I think Silverfiddle said it well:

I just think we need to grow up, a little, and understand that this kind of stupidity is not the same thing as evil. Plenty of evil out there. We don't need to invent it instead of recognizing the difference between it and just kind of foolish.
Ben: Nice summary. You've called attention to the intersection of evil and stupidity. Not a pretty neighborhood. More importantly, you've reminded us to that stupid is not evil. (My belief, stupidity is a pawn to evil).
I wish my kids had teachers like you. I love your post-election entry about how you were all angry and being harsh and how you had to catch yourself. I went back to your archives and tried to find it, but couldn't, so for the interested reader, here's Ben's blog: http://benfrankln.blogspot.com
