Political Correctness Will be The Death of US All

LL over at Can We Keep Our Republic?  has written a great piece on political correctness, and how it paralyzes us in the face of Muslim murderers.  He reminds us that is wasn't always that way.  Go read the whole thing here.

Fortunately I won't ever be accused of such a heinous thing.

The name says it all... Thanks for stopping by. More Snarky Basterds, less PC police.

Thought I'd respond here to your reply on the RCP story written by Major Keller.

On the white supremacists, from the Southern Poverty Law Center:

And if you think the SPLC is a bunch of DFH, from the FBI: http://crooksandliars.com/files/uploads/2008/12/whitesupremacistrecruitmentofmilitarypersonnel2_a0a33.pdf

White supremacists should be drummed out of the military as well. Like muslim extremists, their ideology is incompatible with patriotic military service.

As for Kooks and Criers, I was kicked off that site last year, proving once again that there is no one more doctrinaire and rigid in orthodoxy than a modern-day liberal.

Well, I don't think one guy getting 86'ed from a website proves anything. Try Orcinus, the website of Dave Neiwert, one of the C & L guys. Sarah Robinson also has infrequent posts.

BTW, I'm up for good discussion. But I'm an atheist (Unitarian variety) and as liberal as a European lefty, so I wouldn't disprove anything you said in the other post.

We could start with Fascism. Read Sara Robinson's three parter on the possibility of fascism in today's America, one, two and three.

Thanks for the links. I will try commenting at Orcinus. I just glanced at part 1 and I'll be sure to read all three parts, since this is a subject that interests me.

Unlike partisans on both sides, I believe fascism can come in either the dem or repub variety. It is human nature and no one is immune. That is why I am for a minimalist federal government more in line with what the founders envisioned.

They set up a beautiful system of firewalls to keep one person or group from grabbing it all. Unfortunately, these ramparts have been breached by power-hungry politicos of all stripes.

I'll check out your blog as well. You're a great interlocutor. I enjoy back and forth with sincere liberals who can intelligently express their point of view without crapping all over everything.

Norwegian Shooter: BTW, do you shoot Norwegians, or are you a shooter who is Norwegian?

Thanks, man. Is that a real Simpson's character or a create your own? I'm Norwegian-American and got the nickname in college. Ever heard of the Polish Rifle? Well, I played football, but the Shooter part comes from an off-field habit. It's not flattering.

Orcinus quotes a prominent student of fascist movements, can't remember who it is or in what posts, but one of the characteristics of fascism is the business class using populist movements to subvert democracy. See Dave's long-winded discussion of Goldberg's book.

I created it using a picture of me at the 'Simpsonize me' site. Don't remember the URL, but it's sponsored by Burger King.

I'll go read tonight. I read Goldberg's book and I loved it. It was well-reasoned and copiously footnoted. He defended his thesis well. Hitler and Mussolini each crafted a socialist movement with a nationalist flavor.

This is why the founders are so important. Adhere to their philosophy of government and no one can hijack it for their own purposes.

I consider myself fairly libertarian, but hesitate to declare it because every time I try a "true libertarian" swoops in and trashes me because I don't take the full anarchist pledge.
