The 12-question, multiple-choice survey found questions regarding statements linked to Republican presidential candidate John McCain and his vice-presidential running-mate Sarah Palin were far more likely to be answered correctly by Obama voters than questions about statements associated with Obama and Vice-President–Elect Joe Biden. They could answer questions about McCain and Palin, even erroneous ones asking which candidate considered it a foreign policy credential to be able to see Russia from his or her house? Answer: Sara Palin, but not really. Actually, Tina Fey said it, but in the Messiah-induced press frenzy, little facts like that don't matter:
Ninety-four percent of Obama voters correctly identified Palin as the candidate with a pregnant teenage daughter, 86% correctly identified Palin as the candidate associated with a $150,000 wardrobe purchased by her political party, and 81% chose McCain as the candidate who was unable to identify the number of houses he owned. When asked which candidate said they could "see Russia from their house," 87% chose Palin, although the quote actually is attributed to Saturday Night Live's Tina Fey during her portrayal of Palin during the campaign.Obama Voters didn't do so well answering questions about their messiah and his sidekick, Palooka Joe:
83% failed to correctly answer that Obama had won his first election by getting all of his opponents removed from the ballot, and 88% did not correctly associate Obama with his statement that his energy policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry. Most (56%) were also not able to correctly answer that Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground.Nearly three quarters (72%) of Obama voters did not correctly identify Biden as the candidate who had to quit a previous campaign for President because he was found to have plagiarized a speech, and nearly half (47%) did not know that Biden was the one who predicted Obama would be tested by a generated international crisis during his first six months as President.
The criticism of this poll, and it is a valid one in the realm of statistical sampling, is the equivalency of the questions asked about the two tickets. Nonetheless, it calls our stinking press into question and it also highlights voter ignorance. Maybe the two are related. Hmmm...

It is always funny to pick on stupid people, I argue with conservatives all the time and enjoy it. The truth of the matter is that the American populace as a whole is woefully under educated. If you wanted to frame some Bush or McCain people, emphasize the stupid ones and ignore the informed, you would have a similar scenario as to what Zogby did with Obama supporters.
Does anyone with half a brain actually need a poll like this to realize that the media has an extreme leftist slant. Even the "evil" Fox News has a few people pretty far to the left.
I'd have to agree with jahshaolin here. The mainstream media has done a terrible job of telling the truth from the bs. There's too much emphasis on issues that in the long run don't matter at all. Oh yeah, and I'm a liberal but with this, that shouldn't matter. peace
Jahshaolin: I did not call these people stupid; I called them ignorant, which means unaware of something. I certainly do not think Obama voters are stupid.
Zogby took a random sample of Obama voters, he did not just pick the uninformed ones.
If you want to argue with the survey the better point to criticize is the equivalency of the questions.
"Who couldn't remember how many houses he owned?" is a much easier question than "Who legally disqualified all his opponents off the ballot in his first successful election?"
We all remember that famous John McCain moment about the houses because news of it was everywhere. We didn't hear too much about Mr. Obama's early electoral shenanigans in Chicago because I guess people just weren't interested.
I think Clark, you and I all agree that we are ignorant as a society, either willfully or due to a press that does a crappy job informing us.
I'm not a sour grapes person. I didn't vote for Mr Obama, but he won fair and square and he'll be my president. I hope that attitude comes through in my earlier posts.
I am an American and I want this country to do well and I want our president to be successful, regardless of which party he belongs to.
I do agree with anon that the press slants left, but I enjoy engaging with people like you and Clark who have a different opinion but express it well and without the anger and personal attacks.
Thanks for stopping by. Peace to you too.
Rock on!
If we consider information as sustenance of importance similar to food, we'd have to say we all dined on a steady diet of pop tarts this election. Frosted ones at that.
Yup. That's why the big news outlets are bleeding money and losing readers and viewers. The smartest people, right and left, get their news from all over instead of relying on just one source.
You do know that if they did this poll with McCain supporters it would be even worse, right?
If you have satisfaction that Obama supporters are ignorant or whatever, how would you feel that McCain supporters are even more so?
He refuses to do a poll for McCain supporters:

Also, Obama won a majority of educated people.
Dear lady, education does not equal smarts. This nation is full of educated fools. Look no further than Washington and Wall Street. How about next door, where the MBA and his equally degreed wife are leveraged to their eyeballs because they bought too much house and too much car. Oh, and their kids are brats because they've abandoned time-tested child rearing methods for that Dr. Spock nonsense.
I don't know how McCain voters would fare in a similar poll and neither do you. It's pure conjecture.
Finally, if you knew anything of scientific methods, you would know that a similar poll for McCain voters would be hopelessly tainted by knowledge of this poll.
Alas, we shall never know if McCain fans would sink to the ignorant depths of Obama voters. It's a mystery for the ages.
