The Left's Invented Rights

It is easy to declare a new "right."  The challenge is paying for it.  For every "right" declared by an enlightened progressive, some other party has a duty to provide it

Consider the invented rights of modern-day leftists:

Right to food, housing, healthcare, to violate internationally recognized borders, a "living wage" (whatever that is).

Now look at the rights mentioned by the founders:
Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness, free press, free speech, free worship.  Even the Bill of Rights is not so much a list of what you are entitled to as it is a an admonishment to the Federal Government stating what it must refrain from doing to you.

Liberal "Rights" Cost Money, God-Given Ones Do Not
See the difference?  The founders did not draw up a contract that binds the government and taxpayers to give you anything.  Your government and your fellow man owe you nothing but to leave you alone to your lawful pursuits.  Your rights, given to you by God and guaranteed under the constitution, cost me nothing.

Liberals Have it Bass-Akwards (as usual)

Liberals have stood this concept upon its head:  Government must be left alone to do whatever it pleases in pursuit of what it thinks the populace needs.  Rights don't come from some invisible, unfair meany in the heavens, they come from government!

I'm tired of progressive do-gooders trying to erase every ill and wipe away every tear with my money.

If you want to guarantee those who refuse to work three squares and a roof over their heads, great!  Start a charity and collect voluntary contributions.  There are enough soft-headed people in this country that you could probably make a go of it.

Life's not fair!  I'll never make as much money playing the fiddle as Charlie Daniels

A good government doesn't guarantee you decent housing and a good job.  It provides an even playing field where you can go as far as your own efforts and initiative take you.  Picking favorites and wasting taxpayer money on chimeric programs narrows that field and fills it with potholes.

The referees are now tripping some players while pushing others over the goal line.

The Lib Grip is Slipping

Congratulations to Senator Scott Brown (REPUBLICAN! from Massachusetts) !

Liberals everywhere are curled up in a shivering, blubbering little ball in the darkened corners of their stinky dens...  This is the beginning of the end for them.  God Bless America, (and I never thought I'd be saying this)  God Bless Massachusetts!

More Reasons for Conservative Optimism

More Americans than ever before identify themselves as Conservative

The Telegraph, a British paper, has published its annual lists of "Most Influential Liberals" and Most Influential Conservatives."

Our Top 20 is Better Than Their Top 20

The Liberal Top 20
The liberal list is peppered with dynastic repeat names people have grown weary of (Obamas, Clintons), flash in the pan lightweights who will be forgotten in a few years (Napolitano, Geithner) and tired old political hacks (Axelrod, Gore, Emanual, Frank, Kerry, Pelosi).  This is not a young, hip list.  It is an old, entrenched, creaky, stodgy list.  Liberals are so yesterday...

The Conservative List
The conservative top 7 is dominated not by elected officials, but articulate media figures.  Liberals continue to scream about these people, but they're not running for anything!  And they provide a brilliant counterweight to the Hollywood-MSM-Liberal DC axis of progressive evil:

1-7
Dick Cheney, Rush Limbaugh, Matt Drudge, Sarah Palin, Robert Gates, Glenn Beck, Roger Ailes

8-20
Has some clunkers that we've been trying to trade in:  George W. Bush, John McCain,  Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee.

But the top 20 is also full of future promise
David Petraeus, Paul Ryan, Tim Pawlenty, Eric Cantor, Mike Pence, Bob McDonnell.  There are no comparable figures on the left.

Democrats are driving a clapped-out, backwards-looking, one-size-fits-all, statist agenda. They are fueled by taxpayer money and constitutional ignorance, both of which are in diminishing supply.

The Conservative Agenda of the Young Guns is a small-government, constitutional one.  It is about liberty and a brighter future unencumbered by tangles of progressive we-say-so regulations and bloated debt.

We've got the youth, the mojo and the ideas.  The future looks bright.

Global Warming, Free Health Care, and Other Liberal Fantasies

Liberal Belief in Fairy Tales is not Limited to Global Warming

Liberals live in a fantasy bubble where all us conservatives are lowbrow wife beaters or slack-jawed hicks with tobacco juice dribbling down our chins.  We're uneducated and superstitious; just look at how many of us go to church!  Meanwhile, enlightened liberals constitute America's cognoscenti and intelligentsia.

Well, Michael Graham has written a brilliant article that bursts that irrational bubble.
If you thought the “fire never melted steel” crowd was nuts, check out the new study from the bipartisan Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.

They find that liberals and Democrats are far more likely to believe in ghosts, psychic powers and astrology than their conservative/Republican counterparts.

About 50 percent more Democrats than Republicans say they have spoken to the dead.  Or as it’s known at Democratic Party headquarters, “voter outreach.”

He goes on to catalog Obama and Dems talking out of both sides of their mouths:  Speechifying about deficit reduction while ballooning the deficit, saying "no more earmarks" while passing bills that contain thousands of them, laughable claims of slashing medicare spending while adding more people to the program...

He concludes:
Even if their math is right today, who is naive enough to believe this trillion-dollar government program will come in on budget?

I know people who believe in leprechauns who aren’t that gullible.
This would explain why the Democrat politicians want to treat us all like children.  They think we're all as naive as their liberal democratic constituents.

Islam into the Breach: Another Great Mark Steyn Article

“Think globally, act locally” works for environmentalism and jihad --Mark Steyn

Mark Steyn nails the stand-for-nothing PC secularists who encourage jihadis on Western soil. These dangerously misguided liberals apologize for Western Civilization and denigrate Christianity and Judaism while aiding and abetting illiberal Muslim chauvinism.

Secular progressives and triumphant Muslims join forces to tear down Europe's great cathedrals. The Muslims construct mosques while the intellectually clapped out Western apologists build altars to Gaia. (BTW enviros, all that global warming crap is out the window when the Muslims gain electoral plurality in Europe. No way are they bowing to a strange god, especially a female one.)

Here are some excerpts from Steyn's excellent article:
And so in much of the post-Christian West “a pluralist society” has subsided into a vast gaping nullity too weak to have any purchase on large numbers of the citizenry. In practice, the “secularist and liberal defense” is the vacuum in which a resurgent globalized Islam has incubated.

It is only human to wish to belong to something larger than oneself, and thereby give one’s life meaning. For most of history, this need was satisfied by tribe and then nation, and religion. But the Church is in steep decline in Europe, and the nation-state is all but wholly discredited as the font of racism, imperialism, and all the other ills.

So some (not all) third-generation Britons of Pakistani descent look elsewhere for their identity, and find the new globalized Islam. And some (not all) 30th-generation Britons of old Anglo-Saxon stock also look elsewhere, and find global warming.
Progressive Multiculturalism is a One Way Street
To progressive opinion, it’s taken as read that “multiculturalism” is a one-way street: It seems entirely reasonable for a Wahhabist to say an Anglican church in Riyadh would seem, gee, I dunno, just somehow kinda un-Saudi, whereas it is entirely unacceptable for Heidi’s grandfather to say a Deobandi mosque in Lucerne is un-Swiss.
Everybody's gotta believe in something, and you can't replace something with nothing

Jesus told us 2000 years ago that nature abhors a vacuum:
"When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first." -- Luke 11:24-26
That goes for removing good stuff as well. You can't just sweep the house clean and expect it to remain empty. You've got to fill it with good things, or evil spirits will swoop in to fill the emptiness.

And a few verses before this passage, Jesus reminded us that a house divided against itself cannot stand. Are you hollowed-out Westerners listening?

Government Gone Wild

Democrats have drawn the battle lines quite clearly.  2010 is the year we fight.

Not with bullets or by shouting people down, but with the most lethal weapon we possess:  Our vote.  Check your county office to verify you are registered and help like-minded friends, family and co-workers to do the same.

As Dennis Prager is fond of saying "I prefer clarity to agreement."

Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have shown us what unbridled Democratic liberalism looks like.  With no pesky "Repugs" to stand in their way, they have shown their true colors, and every poll shows ordinary Americans don't like it.

This year has provided us political and ideological clarity

There are bright, stark lines dividing conservatives and the GOP from liberals and Democrats.  Democrats have embraced these kooky alien ideas while the minority Republicans have fought the good fight against them:

  • Environmental legislation that would enrich government cronies while destroying our economy
  • Refusing to drill for our own bountiful energy resources, while simultaneously refusing to build more nuclear power plants
  • One-size-fits-all health care that enslaves doctors and their patients while bankrupting the nation
  • Buying up companies and telling them what to do, while playing favorites with crony capitalists
  • A "Safe School" Czar who should not be allowed within 500 feet of any child
  • Socialist academics eager to practice their theories on government and society, since no real-world enterprise would have anything to do with them and their loony ideologies
Government Gone Wild
But most of all, Democrats have brought us government as a hydra-headed monster poking a bureaucratic and regulatory snout into every corner of society.  Democrats stand for a statist solution to everything, leaving nothing but abortion to individual choice.

Can we stand up for liberty and freedom?  Liberty to make our own decisions, and freedom to fail?  Yes we can.  All we have to do is vote.

DC Gangstas Cornering the Energy Market

Rampant economic ignorance allows DC shysters to pluck us like chickens

Wonder why we're trapped in a fiscal nightmare (and getting deeper)?  Crap like this is why...
WASHINGTON (AP) - Two senators on Friday offered yet another approach to tackling climate change, proposing the government sell pollution allowances to industry to cut greenhouse gas emissions and then use most of the money to send tax-free monthly checks to every American.

The "dividend" checks, estimated to average about $100 a month over nearly two decades, would be aimed at offsetting the higher cost of energy.

The proposal by Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., and Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine...
Free Money!!!
... and millions are stupid enough to fall for this latest piece of DC flim flam.  Shake down the energy producers, causing them to pass the increased costs onto the consumer.  Next, bribe the consumer with checks so they look the other way while the feral government continues the shakedown scam.

Take dollars away from people in the form of higher energy costs, then send us dimes, while the rest of the money sticks to the fingers of shifty politicians.  If anyone other than a politician tried this they would be prosecuted for fraud.

Progressive Crack-Up

Our economy is in trouble, we're deep in debt, and taxpayers are angry. Progressives ignore all this and continue the Long March towards budget busting and economy killing climate legislation and "health care reform." Even juicier, the nutroots are turning on their messiah

Reasons's Matt Welch has a good take...

Boy, this “Obama Derangement Syndrome” really has gotten out of hand. Why, just this past week the decreasingly popular president has been called a “bald-faced liar,” “an executive who can’t bring himself to lead,” and even an “Uncle Tom.”

And that’s just by liberals.
A Lesson for Conservatives

But here's the salient point for conservatives considering who could best lead us out of the desert and into the political promised land:
Yet there are lessons we can all learn from Obama’s lost year. Chief among them is the insight that when you project all your hopes, desires, and even fears onto a Rorschach test of a politician — whether Barack Obama, Sarah Palin, or otherwise — not only are you bound to be disappointed, you might just deserve it, too.

Government officials use force and the threat thereof to impact our lives, not always (or even most of the time) for the better, so it behooves all citizens to get over their schoolyard crushes and figure out just what their objects of political desire plan to do with all that power.

Progressives are cracking up, let's not follow it with one of our own.  We need to avoid the hero worship and "schoolyard crushes" that blind us to reality.  Look at what it did to the libs...

Liberalism Kills

Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent
-- Adam Smith

Mike Huckabee is in the news. Back when he was Arkansas governor, his misguided bleeding Christian heart led him to release a criminal who showed his gratitude by killing four police officers in cold blood.

Blame everybody but the criminal...
The brutal gang rape last month of a young woman at a high school dance evoked the expected response from the San Fran Sicko Cornicle. It's society's fault, poverty, white people, bla bla bla... Blame everyone and everything but the dirty bastards who committed the crime.

Their claptrap is not even worth repeating here. Michele Catalano at Pajamas Media provides welcome disinfectant for this liberal BS. But somebody has to be at fault, starting with the young men who perpetrated the crime.
The culprits are not video games and desensitization. It’s partly the fault of poverty and partly the fault of parents who have lost control of their kids and their own lives. It’s a school district that didn’t provide its students with the security and safety precautions necessary given the circumstances.
Liberalism Frees the Prisoners and Imprisons the Innocent
Liberalism has failed our society in so many ways, especially when it comes to crime. Dreamy criminal coddling programs of the 60's launched an explosion of criminality that has destroyed whole communities.

Good people, mostly poor minorities, are prisoners in their homes and schools. Social mores are dictated by the false machismo of street thugs. Young boys want to be like them. Young girls want to be liked by them. It's twisted, in that stockholm syndrome way that abused spouses and children struggle to please the abuser.

One way to reliably bring down the crime rate

Zero tolerance. You go Eliot Ness on their asses and haul them off to jail. If they refuse to go you gun them down in the street like the rabid dogs they are. In prison, you take away all exercise equipment and put them on a subsistence diet. You should be walking out of prison a 98 pound weakling, not Mike Tyson.

If the young wanna-be sees that the path to glory he contemplates is not so glorious after all, he is much more likely to look for something more productive. The specter of death or a stint in prison that makes you not a returning hero but an emaciated loser can be a strong motivator.

Lock 'em Up
Thomas Sowell reminds us that nothing is more effective at reducing criminal activity than locking them up. Dr. Sowell is an expert in statistical analysis, and he points out the obvious: The higher the criminal incarceration rate, the lower the crime rate.

This is too simple for liberals. Especially the ones rich enough to wall themselves off from the consequences of the dangerous stupidities they foist upon the rest of us.

Independents Turn Right

Liberals forever strive and strain towards the collective, and independents are abandoning them in droves

The very rich and the very poor vote for ever more taxes and collectivist government programs. The middle class largely rejects them. Why?

Dennis Prager observed that the poor vote liberal because it costs them nothing. It's free stuff. The rich do it perhaps out of some misplaced guilt or to "give something back," whatever that means.

The Rich Can Afford Liberalism
Anyway, the rich have investment strategies to protect their wealth from a rapacious government, and they have enough money to wall themselves off from the social dysfunction, crime and chaos their liberalism creates.

When a tea partier protests taxes or big government programs, liberals are quick to shout "hypocrite!" because we are the beneficiaries of public libraries, police and the fire department, not to mention a national grid of roadways and utilities.

I love my local library, and I enjoy the thought of my tax money paying police officers to drag the dirtbags off to jail. We're well armed at our house, but a little backup is always a good thing.

Call them collectivist if you want, but these are proper functions of government, and conservatives don't mind paying for them.

Liberal Rodents Have Infested Our Homes
Liberals used to complain about government being "in the bedroom," during those right wing Christian Reagan years. Well, now Pelosi, Barney Frank and an inept army of federal bureaucrats are in every room of the house, regulating everything from light bulbs to flush toilets. They've invaded our neighborhoods, buying off our governors and mayors, and people don't like it.

These Gallup Survey results confirm what the recent elections told us. Independents are swinging conservative, big time:

Liberals Kill the Goose that lays the Golden Eggs

I'm tired of liberals talking about "cleaning up Republican messes."  For progressives, they sure regress a lot...

California, Michigan, and now New York have shown us that taxing and spending destroys jobs, kills economic growth, and eventually leads worn out taxpayers to flee the state. The two headed beast of government bureaucracy and liberal social programs ends up destroying its master.

It's a Joke, but it's True
Politicians who blather on about "cleaning up Republican messes" would do well to recall this oldie but goody:
An old bull and his young son stood atop a hillock, looking down upon a herd of cattle.
"C'mon dad!" cried the young bull, "let's run down there and get us a cow!"
"No son," rumbled the old bull, "let's stroll down and get them all."
An Exodus of Biblical Proportions
New Yorkers are fleeing the state, especially New York City, in alarming numbers -- and costing a fortune in lost tax dollars, a new study shows.
More than 1.5 million state residents left for other parts of the United States from 2000 to 2008, according to the report from the Empire Center for New York State Policy. It was the biggest out-of-state migration in the country.
The vast majority of the migrants, 1.1 million, were former residents of New York City -- meaning one out of seven city taxpayers moved out.
The Tax Loss?
It all adds up to staggering loss in taxable income. During 2006-2007, the "migration flow" out of New York to other states amounted to a loss of $4.3 billion
The Upside
If current population trends continue, these failed liberal bastions will lose congressional seats and influence as they bleed out people. The same goes for liberalism itself. Liberals don't breed, while conservatives are joyfully fruitful.

Maybe there's something to that Darwinism jazz after all?

Liberals Blowing Smoke and Breaking Windows

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Democrat of New York, used a Wall Street Journal article to extol the virtues of carbon trading to her Wall Street constituents:

According to financial experts, carbon permits could quickly become the
world's largest commodities market, growing to as much as $3 trillion
by 2020 from just over $100 billion today. With thousands of firms and
energy producers buying and selling permits to emit carbon, transaction
fees for exchanges and clearing alone could top nearly half a billion
dollars.

That $3 Trillion Will Come Out Of Our Pockets

What's good for Wall Street is bad for Main Street.  It takes carbon to heat our homes and bring consumer goods to the store. We will end up footing the bill for these transaction fees as businesses pass these Wall Street costs onto us in the form of higher light bills and rising retail prices.

Liberals are Economically Ignorant

Gillibrand and her economically-ignorant fellow Democrats have fallen for the broken window fallacy.  Cap and Trade creates no new wealth.  Rather, it destroys wealtht through regulatory compliance costs and transaction fees.

Book Banning is Bogus

Book banning in America is a bogus issue used by leftists to tear down our American institutions and denigrate our traditional values

Last week was Banned Books Week, and the social libertines were out in full force.  From the website:
Banned Books Week is the only national celebration of the freedom to read. It was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries.  [...]

People challenge books that they say are too sexual or too violent. They object to profanity and slang, and protest against offensive portrayals of racial or religious groups--or positive portrayals of homosexuals.
Yes.  Nice summary.  I don't want these adult perverts peddling homosexual propaganda, anti-Christian screeds, and sex and violence to my children.   I am also against censorship.  The two views are not incompatible...

See how liberalism works?
They take the legitimate issue of enforcing community standards, conflate it with book banning, and conjure the specter of America as Nazi Germany censoring, burning and silencing.

The reality is more benign

By the organization's own admission, the top 10 most-challenged books are challenged in a school or public library environment because they are not age appropriate.  And most are trash anyway, not a classic among them.

No one is challenging the right to publish and peddle trash in this country, a casual glance around proves that.  This is about parents maintaining control over what is introduced to their children.

If a teacher introduced pornography and graphic battlefield narratives to my first grader and I protested, I would be considered pro-censorship to these people.

I love books and I do not want my government committing First Amendment violations.  And guess what?  Removing a book from schools or public libraries based upon community standards is not censorship.

An author has no legal right to have her book placed in a school or community library, and community members have no right to find there any book they desire.  Indeed, if it were otherwise, every public library would be legally required to stock every book; a clearly unreasonable standard.

Judgments must be made.  Some books are in and some are out.

Removing or restricting a book from a public library does not silence the author and it does not prevent people from acquiring the book by some other means. This is about the right time and proper place.

Parents and responsible adults have a duty to introduce only age-appropriate material to our youngsters.  I decide what's appropriate for my children, not some hippie pedo-perv or oversexed woman marketing her teen sex fantasies to high schoolers.

Want to talk censorship?  When is the last time someone was allowed to read a bible or say a prayer out loud in a public school?

Chairman Obamao's Little Red Book

The rank condescension, treating us all like children, is what I find most galling about the Obama Administration in particular, and liberals in general.

And then there are the brainwashed masses...

* The hosanna shouting Hopium Smokers in the press;

* The intellectually, morally and financially bankrupt congressional politburo writing important laws restricting the capacity of flush toilets while continuing to worm their way into every corner of our lives;

* And those servants of the Ministry of Culture and Propaganda, the Hollywood celebutards pledging their pathetic, plastic lives to Obama.

They lecture on on things even a moron knows, and act as though they just thought it up themselves

We didn't know how to wash our hands before The Great O entered our lives!

We thank Minister of Hygiene Sebelius for teaching the masses how to cough.

Our children cared nothing for school until the dear leader imparted his words of wisdom and encouragement to them. "Get serious, work hard, sit up straight..."

Wow! What wisdom! How did we ever educate our young before The Big O rolled into our lives?

When they're not pronouncing the patently obvious as though they were Moses descending from Mount Sinai with The Tablets, they spout absurdities:

Expanded health care for all, and it won't add one dime of debt!

Terrorists attacked us from Canada

"Spend our way to prosperity" is my personal favorite. Right up there with Eat Yourself Thin. And if you disagree with The Big O-genda, you're a racist!!!

Enough Already! Shut Up! STFU! I'm tired of your lectures! And so is everybody else who isn't a mushy-headed libtard! So just shut up and leave us alone. Mankind survived before you got here and it will continue once you're gone.

Even Bill Maher (who I grudgingly respect when I'm not wanting to punch that smirk off his face), is fed up:
New Rule: Now that we've answered his call to wash our hands, President Obama must continue to tell us how to live. Last week, when America was faced with the pan-global swine flu omega death plague, the President went on TV and told people to wash their hands, and experts tell us this made a big difference, which augurs well for next month's "National Wipe Your Butt Day." Next week, in a fireside chat, he'll tell us not to put a fork in the toaster.
Maher better watch it. He may find himself on the enemies list next to Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. As for me, I agree with Reverend Gregori: No thanks. I've already got a Messiah.

Cultural Vandalism

Hollywood could't make this stuff up. Is liberalism really a mental disorder, as Doctor Savage says?

DENVER — An act of vandalism at Colorado Democratic headquarters that shattered windows next to signs about health care reform took a strange turn Wednesday when it was revealed that one of the suspects was a Democratic activist.

Democratic leaders initially said that the window shattering was an act of political vandalism, possibly by opponents of health care reform. But the political leanings of suspect Maurice Schwenkler raised the prospect that one of the party's own might have vandalized its building to make a statement.

This is not an isolated case. Liberals routinely are caught perpetrating stuff like this and then blaming it on neo-Nazis, right-wingers, conservatives, Republican howler monkeys, whatever.

A Long Legacy of Liberal Lies
There's the Claremont hate crime hoax, where a female professor vandalized her own car and claimed right-wing anti-Semites did it.

How about all those noose sightings, many of which turned out to be authored not by racists, but by champions of diversity? Liberal BS, like the Duke Lacross case that ended in criminal charges for an over-zealous prosecutor.

The Tawana Brawley case may be the most famous and egregious of all. Her brutal gang rape, an ordeal that lasted days, culminated with the white men (including cops) who did it scrawling racial slurs on her body and stuffing her in a trash bag and leaving her outside overnight in below-freezing temperatures. Reverend Al Sharpton mounted a loud public defense of the teen, launching himself to national prominence. One problem: It was a hoax.

To the press's credit, they usually reveal the damning evidence of the discovered fraud... on page 528 of the Saturday edition.

This is not a "black thing," it's a liberal thing
Liberals are always willing to believe the worst about our society, and they will seize upon any example to reinforce their dark view of our hateful, racist society.

Up From Planned Parenthood
Before the 1960's, liberals and progressives were more preoccupied with getting black women to planned parenthood than they were to getting them to the front of the bus. In that earlier age, they vociferously proclaimed the innocence of pinko spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, who were executed for passing nuclear secrets to the Soviets. When the wall came down, Soviet government records confirmed their guilt.

Before that, they strenuously defended murderers Nichola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti, both Italian immigrants as well as anarchist draft dodgers. Today it continues with the defense of cop killers Mumia Jamal (African American) and Leonard Peltier (Native American).

Wherever there is some distasteful criminal,
you will find a clutch of guilty liberals lionizing them as heroic victims of an oppressive society. The bigger the crimes the better. Che Guevara, T-Shirt salesman to the Tards and murderer of Cuban campesinos, is one of their all-time international favorites.

It's all about the Meta-Truth

Hoax or truth, guilt or innocence doesn't matter. The meta-narrative cannot be denied. America is an immigrant-hating, racist empire ran by melanin-averse white people. Because of this, the Italian anarchist, the pre-Israel Jew, and later the Indian and the black, are all innocent and the contemptible white accusers are all up for indictment. Note that progressives have ditched Jews for the trendier Palestinians as their victim of preference.

"A Fabric of Polemic and Exaggeration"
Back when People Magazine still did substantive reporting, they described the unraveling of the Tawana Brewley case:
Finally the fabric of polemic and exaggeration in which the triumvirate had entrapped both Tawana and their cause appeared to be coming undone. First, Perry McKinnon, an aide close to Sharpton, went public to say that their defense of Tawana had been nothing but "a pack of lies."
Unfortunately, at each unraveling, the press and the public merely move on to the next progressive agitprop, never stopping to think maybe we should stop listening to these people and their never ending pack of lies.

Bed Wetters Continue to Whine to CNN about Scary Guns

PHOENIX, Arizona (CNN) -- A man toting an assault rifle was among a dozen protesters carrying weapons while demonstrating outside President Obama's speech to veterans on Monday, but no laws were broken. It was the second instance in recent days in which weapons have been seen near presidential events.
Arizona law has nothing in the books regulating assault rifles, and only requires permits for carrying concealed weapons. So despite the man's proximity to the president, there were no charges or arrests to be made.
Hill said officers explained the law to some people who were upset about the presence of weapons at the protest.

Gun-toting protesters have demonstrated around the president before. Last week, a man protesting outside Obama's town hall meeting in New Hampshire had a gun strapped to his thigh. That state also doesn't require a license for open carry. (Source: CNN)
Lesson learned: Law abiding citizens carrying guns are not a threat.
If you piddle-down-your-leg, thumb-sucking liberals don't like our Out West gun laws, you can slink back to the liberal urban cesspools you crawled out of. Big Daddy will take care of you there by taking your rights away and ensuring only criminals have firearms, you constitutionally-ignorant morons.

Here's a quote you lefties love throwing around:
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
It's almost as pithy as "If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns," which is proven true every day in the enlightened "gun free zones" all over the world.

In Support of President Obama

I've really been dumping on President Obama lately, so I thought I'd take this chance to say some positive things about him. (Be sure to follow the links into Leftyland, and you'll see just how nutty they really are!)

He stiffed his lefty fellow travelers at HuffPo and Salon by brazenly jumping in bed with the evil pharmaceutical industry, known by the nutroots as Big Pharma.

Getting drug companies to throw $150 Million in propaganda support his way was quite a coup for Dr. Chicago.

Most importantly, the president has demonstrated once again that there is nothing conservative, rightwing, or free market about large corporations. Political and economic ideology mean nothing to Big Business; they will play whore to whoever is in charge. The lefties know this, and so they are skeptical. Here are some typical comments:
"But, but, I'm just so happy he isn't Bush, even tho he has continued to do exactly what Bush did, that I'm willing to keep my mouth shut about all the things he said he was going to change and now says he isn't. Just give him another 3 or 4 terms and I'm sure he''l get it all done. You just have to be patient!"
"This sounds like another version of ole Bush's "Part D Medicare drug bill, which created a nightmare for seniors and protected no one, and created a gold mine for Big Pharma!"
"President Obama has shown that he is not a strong leader and this is most unfortunate for the country. He allowed two Republican Senators and Nancy Pelosi to water down his Stimulus Bill... Candidate Obama promised an end to the war in Iraq. What the country got was not a cessation of our involvement there but a ratchetting up of the conflict in Afghanistan..."
Obama's Afghanistan Policy Makes Bush Look Timid
The last commenter brings up my next point. President Obama is bombing the crap out of the Taliban and their AQ allies in Pakistan. His targeted assassination program is sending murderous 7th century obscurantists to their father in hell at quite a pace. The World Socialist Website calls it murder, but what do they know?

The President Has Separated The Left From the Right
Finally, President Obama is a man of principle. Despite murdering little brown people in South Asia and climbing in bed with the drug industry, he is staying true to his uber-liberal, community organizing roots.

In full campaign mode that his Long March requires, he roared out that it was time for the opposition to shut up and get out of the way. That goosed the faithful! That post-partisan crap was just campaign rhetoric.

Yes, he could have been an Eisenhower, eschewing partisan politics and playing the role of mediator in the middle. But no, he faked right and ran left as hard as he could, and I congratulate him for his boldness.

No Mushy Middle
The president has drawn a stark line between left and right. On the left is the president, Harry and the Pelosicrats, and the screaming left-nuts, while a rampaging acorn and americorps go wilding in the background. Ordinary Americans, repulsed by the orgy of spending and government grabs, rejoin sensible Republicans on the right side of the line.

Thank you Mr. President for drawing stark lines and painting the current issues in bold colors!
Your candor has done more to damage your liberal agenda than anything any conservative could have done. The American people see your liberal schemes and dreams for what they are and they don't like it. As lefty Dan Neil said about saving Obamacare in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette Sunday Forum,
"It's time to fight dirty."
Of course it is, because the progressive agenda cannot prevail in an honest, open debate. We needed a dose of ideological clarity, and President Obama has provided it.

Surprise! Government Free Money Program is a Success!!

Some guy named Dave Johnson over at Huff the Magic PuffPo aims a tired, intellectually flaccid finger at the eye of conservatives who are criticizing the Cash for Clunkers program.
Government can work, and the "Cash for Clunkers" program proved it. So, naturally, conservatives have to hate on it. The "Cash for Clunkers" turned out to be one of the most successful government programs in some time.
This was my favorite part:
What could be wrong with that?

Well, if you are a conservative, plenty is wrong with that. First of all, it makes government look good -- and conservatives just hate government. Government is those people who get in the way and tell companies they can't pour toxins into our rivers. Government is those people who show up and ask big companies to share what they make -- after building the roads and courts and schools that enabled them to do so well. That goes against everything conservatives stand for: dirty rivers, big corporations doing and taking anything they want for free, etc.
Yeah, we conservatives just love toxic rivers--makes the fishing so much better! And I guess he hasn't visited opensecrets.org recently, or he would know that even the hated pharmaceuticals industry gives more to the Dems than the Repubs. Can't let the facts get in the way of good lefty rant...

Here's my comment to his post, which I'm surprised made it through the censors:
A program that gives money away is a success. And you're surprised?

Let's go one better. Let's break every window in the country to stimulate glass manufacturers and construction business. We could kick off a really big construction boom by burning all our houses down.

Why not cash for refrigerators? Why does the car industry get subsidized but not home appliances?

The point here is that programs like this produce no net gain to the economy.

And don't start with the whole "helping people" trope. If Bush, and Obama in continuation, really wanted to help people they would have given all that government cash directly to the taxpayer instead of favoring businesses and Wall Street with it.

I only added the last part in to placate the censors. What I really mean to say is, if Bush and Obama wanted to stimulate the economy they would have drilled everywhere, built new refineries and new nuclear power plants, and given corporations a one-time good deal tax saving so they could repatriate the hundreds of billions of dollars they have sitting overseas.

That probably would have produced overload for the puffers...

Liberalism is a Bankrupt Monster

Conservatism is a shining city on the hill. Liberalism is the clanking monster that threatens to destroy it.

Christopher Chantrill has written a brilliant piece contrasting two opposing views on what American conservatives should do to improve their lot. Our conservative friend from Canada, David Warren says to start the revolution. British liberal Daniel Finkelstein recommends throwing Sarah Palin and the other lowbrows over the side and buddying up to the liberal media.

Read Chantrill's article here: Who's Out of Touch. Here is an excerpt that neatly summarizes his thesis:
The awful truth about liberalism is its central delusion, the notion that life can be neatly organized into rational bureaucratic programs. It turns everything it touches into a soulless clanking monster.

The glorious truth about conservatism is its love of life. Before princes, principalities and powers comes life and love, mothers and babies, children and families, struggle and sacrifice, a city on a hill.

I'm a Democrat...

Courtesy of my ol' Air Force buddy OD. We fought the war on drugs with radios and rum. South America may never be the same...

I'm a Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

I'm a Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

I'm a Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

I'm a Democrat because freedom of speech is fine as long as nobody is offended by it.

I'm a Democrat because I trust that the bad guys will stop what they're doing now that we've elected Obama President and there's no more GWOT.

I'm a Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday CAN tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

I'm a Democrat because I'm not concerned about the slaughter of millions of babies, so long as we keep all death row inmates and al Qaeda terrorists alive.

I'm a Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as our wise lawmakers and bureaucrats see fit.

I'm a Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to reinterpret the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would NEVER get their agendas past the voters.

"A Liberal is a person who will give away everything he doesn't own."

Slouching Towards Socialism, European Style

Europe is not the Liberal Democratic paradise we imagine it to be. Two articles explain why. Both have human nature at their root

European free speech has been devoured by fear of angry Muslims. Initiative? Quashed by statist policies. Freedom of mobility? It's trapped in a 600 square foot apartment the average European family lives in. Even if the occupants could escape, the lawnmower with doors they call a car is either upside down burning or it's tank is empty because petrol is four times as expensive as in the States.

Charles Murray identifies the factors that separate us from the Europeans:
First, the problem with the European model, namely: It drains too much of the life from life.

To become a source of deep satisfaction, a human activity has to meet some stringent requirements. It has to have been important (we don’t get deep satisfaction from trivial things). You have to have put a lot of effort into it (hence the cliché “nothing worth having comes easily”). And you have to have been responsible for the consequences.
When government does everything, it robs humans of the happiness derived from a sense of satisfaction with the fruits of their own efforts.
If we ask what are the institutions through which human beings achieve deep satisfactions in life, the answer is that there are just four: family, community, vocation, and faith.

...the goal of social policy is to ensure that those institutions are robust and vital. And that’s what’s wrong with the European model. It doesn’t do that. It enfeebles every single one of them.
Think about it: Government has replaced fathers with monthly checks and social workers. It's policies discourage parents from picking up hammers and paint to repair the neighborhood school and instead conditions them to look to Washington. President Obama mentioned this in his speech to Congress, with the First Lady hugging the little girl from South Carolina who went straight to Washington because her school needed some work.

Government largess has crowded out or co-opted faith-based charities. It has forced churches to water down their faith if they want to collect government money and avoid government censure. Public moralities like environmentalism and political correctness trump private conscience.

Euro-Socialism: High Taxes, Cramped Quarters, and Crappy Service

Michael Totten, indy war correspondent extraordinaire, writes about possibly the worst battle he's ever been involved in: The Alitalia baggage handler's strike in Italy. This is a long but highly entertaining read. Those who have actually lived in socialized Western Europe will be nodding their heads and grinning ruefully as the memories come flooding back.

This is also instructive for Americans cherishing the thought of 100% unionization, free health care for all, and guaranteed job security only European style soft socialism can provide. An up front encounter with the real Europe will disabuse any normal person from fantasies they may have entertained. Just like a person or a family, a society can appear serene on the surface, but when adversity strikes, the true colors fly.

Totten and the other stranded passengers were alternately shouted at, ignored and lied to by cowardly workers who knew they were getting paid regardless of what happened. The moral of the story is that people who are guaranteed a job tend to do it half-assed, and those given no responsibility for the success of their company will shamelessly avoid seizing it when the company's reputation is at stake.

Anybody who wants to see this go on in the United States is crazy.
