US INTERVENTION UNJUSTIFIED

US INTERVENTION IN WWI, WWII, DEEMED UNJUSTIFIED

A secret US Congressional committee that has been meeting since 2 September 1945 has determined that US intervention on behalf of Europe in both WWI and WWII was completely and utterly unjustifed and in violation of international law.

US returns Austria, Sudetenland, Bohemia, Moravia, Poland, Denmark, Norway, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Yugoslavia, Crete, Libya, and Egypt to Germany, as well as apologizing and returning Albania to Italy.

The US State Department released a statement that given the illegality of US actions in Europe and the subsequent illegality of the Dutch Parliament, the findings of the Dutch Committee of Inquiry on Iraq was quite frankly irrelevant and it was waiting to hear what the Third Reich thought.

Also quite frankly, the Dutch can go pound sand!

Islam into the Breach: Another Great Mark Steyn Article

“Think globally, act locally” works for environmentalism and jihad --Mark Steyn

Mark Steyn nails the stand-for-nothing PC secularists who encourage jihadis on Western soil. These dangerously misguided liberals apologize for Western Civilization and denigrate Christianity and Judaism while aiding and abetting illiberal Muslim chauvinism.

Secular progressives and triumphant Muslims join forces to tear down Europe's great cathedrals. The Muslims construct mosques while the intellectually clapped out Western apologists build altars to Gaia. (BTW enviros, all that global warming crap is out the window when the Muslims gain electoral plurality in Europe. No way are they bowing to a strange god, especially a female one.)

Here are some excerpts from Steyn's excellent article:
And so in much of the post-Christian West “a pluralist society” has subsided into a vast gaping nullity too weak to have any purchase on large numbers of the citizenry. In practice, the “secularist and liberal defense” is the vacuum in which a resurgent globalized Islam has incubated.

It is only human to wish to belong to something larger than oneself, and thereby give one’s life meaning. For most of history, this need was satisfied by tribe and then nation, and religion. But the Church is in steep decline in Europe, and the nation-state is all but wholly discredited as the font of racism, imperialism, and all the other ills.

So some (not all) third-generation Britons of Pakistani descent look elsewhere for their identity, and find the new globalized Islam. And some (not all) 30th-generation Britons of old Anglo-Saxon stock also look elsewhere, and find global warming.
Progressive Multiculturalism is a One Way Street
To progressive opinion, it’s taken as read that “multiculturalism” is a one-way street: It seems entirely reasonable for a Wahhabist to say an Anglican church in Riyadh would seem, gee, I dunno, just somehow kinda un-Saudi, whereas it is entirely unacceptable for Heidi’s grandfather to say a Deobandi mosque in Lucerne is un-Swiss.
Everybody's gotta believe in something, and you can't replace something with nothing

Jesus told us 2000 years ago that nature abhors a vacuum:
"When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first." -- Luke 11:24-26
That goes for removing good stuff as well. You can't just sweep the house clean and expect it to remain empty. You've got to fill it with good things, or evil spirits will swoop in to fill the emptiness.

And a few verses before this passage, Jesus reminded us that a house divided against itself cannot stand. Are you hollowed-out Westerners listening?

Minarets

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki was quoted as saying "Values such as tolerance, dialogue, and respecting others' religions should never be put to a referendum," he also warned of "the consequences of anti-Islamic acts."
-- Khaleej Times

At first such a statement coming from Iran seems hilarious, but when examined more closely one can be assured that the statement is heartfelt and honest, for in Iran such values would never be put to a referendum, they would be put before a council of mujtahid, or male Islamic scholars, what we in the west know as a sharia council.

One need look no further than the case of Hamid Pourmand, an Iranian Assyrian Christian imprisoned under the laws of the "tolerant" Islamic Republic of Iran to understand the perspective of the Iranian government on religious tolerance.

To those of us raised under the principles of western democracy and tolerance the Swiss action appears abhorrent, but one must look more closely at the hue and cry raised by Muslims around the world when it comes to the actions of Swiss voters. How can the firmest advocates of a ban on Christian churches in their entirety in Saudi Arabia voice outrage over a ban of minarets on mosques in Switzerland?

You would most likely hear not a peep from Islam had the Swiss banned the construction of any additional steeples on churches within its lands, more likely the action would be hailed as tolerant and understanding gesture of tolerance and acceptance towards Switzerland's Islamic minority. Their issue is not freedom and tolerance but the advancement of Islam and their outcry should be recognized as such, had voters in Albania or Kosovo chosen to ban churches would they be kicking up such a fuss?

The West needs to approach this debate as an internal matter, is the Swiss ban internally consistent with our values, while ignoring the outcry from the Muslim world. We should not give value to the hypocritical voices of Islamic governments feigning outrage at religious discrimination. The debate is not about whether or not the ban is discriminatory against Muslims, but whether or not the ban is consistent with our values of freedom, tolerance and expression.

The Swiss ban on minarets is a perfect example for those of us enamored with the concept of direct democracy on why the founding fathers intentionally chose to avoid it. So you have to ask yourself, taking the Islam/Muslim aspect out of question... should the Swiss have banned the construction of minarets?

Muslims Immigration: Even Responsible People Think it's a Bad Idea

** Unhinged DeviledEgg Rant Alert! **

If the thought of an "honor killing" on American soil doesn't disgust you and make you boil with patriotic rage, you're brain dead!

I live in Europe, I've lived in North America, and I've lived in that armpit they call the Middle East. No contest which I think is better!

Why the hell do Western nations continue to allow these troublemaking Muslims to immigrate? Look at a map.  Wherever there's trouble, angry turbaned men with beards are involved.

Our cultures are incompatible.  We enjoy pork bbq and beer, use toilet paper and refrain from female genital mutilation, for example.

Many Muslim immigrants refuse to assimilate, and the only way to have peace here in the West is to give in to their fleck spittled agitations at the expense of our cultural norms.  Not while I have breath in my body!  Better to close the gates...

ISLAM IS A RELIGION OF PEACE!!! DISAGREE AND I'LL KEEEEL YOU!!!

Unlike the DeviledEgg, foreign editor of The Australian Greg Sheridan is no xenophobe, but he declares, "Uncontrolled Muslim Influx a Threat to the West."
It is extremely difficult to talk honestly about Muslim immigration. All generalisations about it are subject to countless exceptions. Muslims are very different from each other.

Most are reasonably successful. But a much bigger minority end up with social, political, extremist or other problems resulting from a lack of integration than is the case with any other cohort of immigrants in Western societies. A lack of honest discussion about this results in bad policy.
He goes on to recommend a book by Christopher Caldwell, Reflections on the Revolution in Europe: Immigration, Islam and the West.

Jacob Laksin at City Journal recommends the book as well.
Polls show that some 70 percent of Britons believe that there are too many immigrants in their country. Majorities throughout Western Europe agree, and Muslim immigrants in particular are viewed with suspicion.
Europe is a Benignly Racist Continent
Despite the finger-wagging at America, many Europeans are fundamentally and unconsciously racist and insular. Here in Germany, people from the next village over are considered outsiders, fellow German speakers from Austria are treated as the enemy, and those who hail from farther afield have no hope of ever fitting in in the land of beer and bratwurst.

Europeans are in a jam, trying to steer a course between the Charybdis of bigotry and the Scylla of cultural destruction. Worse, the entire continent is in denial. Muslims are to blame as well, especially when they display open contempt for their new home:
Yet the immigrants themselves are far from faultless. One of the immigration debate’s inconvenient truths is that Muslim immigrants have been so difficult to assimilate into European societies because they’re unwilling: many Muslims simply choose religious ties over national loyalties.

... 31 percent of British Muslims felt they had more in common with the people of Muslim nations than with their fellow Europeans.
I hope the US can learn the right lessons from Europe's immigration debacle. Reading Caldwell's book would be a good start.

I've got to stop now, that guy shouting from the tower is giving me a headache!

The DeviledEgg is prone to unhinged rants, childish outbursts, and fits of anger, but he's really a good egg once you get to know him. He is half German and half American and splits his time between the two countries. Western Hero is proud to add him to the team.

Why Polanski Must Face Justice

Europerv amoralists and Hollywood celebutards ask, "Why waste time and resources to extradite Roman Polanksi?"

He pled guilty and was convicted of unlawful sex with a 13 year old.  A 13 year old!  Because he has been convicted, the statue of limitations does not apply.  He fled the country to escape sentencing.

It could have been much worse for him.  This sick bastard plied a child with liquor and drugs, and then violated her in numerous ways I won't go into here.  ABC News has all the gory details.

A Tragic Past is no Excuse
It doesn't matter that he escaped the holocaust an orphan.  It doesn't matter that his eight-month pregnant wife, Sharon Tate, was murdered by the Manson family.  All more tragedy than any one person should have to bear, but it doesn't excuse criminal behavior.

Justice will be Served
Also, it doesn't matter that his victim has settled with him out of court and has forgiven him, saying she wishes prosecutors would drop the matter.  This was not just an offense against her, it was an offense against the US and our system of laws.  He has settled the first debt, but must still pay the second.

Even Uber-liberal Eugene Robinson says shame on Hollywood and the celebutards who are defending this creep.  No surprise, Woody Allen, who divorced his umpteenth wife to marry her daughter, has come to Polanski's defense...

European Unemployment: A Modest Proposal

Dispatch from Malaisistan: Is war the answer?

Foreign Policy has a good piece on rampant unemployment among Europe's young college graduates. The author calls them The New Lost Generation.
This year's graduating class is running smack into the worst employment market in decades -- a situation that threatens long-term social and economic trauma.

Although unemployment is high and rising across all demographic groups, Europe's young workers have been especially hard hit.
The economic consequences are obvious: Young adults living at home, afraid to start a family and unable to engage in the warp and woof of their nation. There are also social consequences:
The effects aren't simply financial. One prominent British think-tanker recently warned, "If this situation persists, the risk may be of a new generation lacking the experience, qualifications, and self-belief to provide for themselves and their families."
The old Lost Generation consisted of those worn out by the collapse of idealism that WWI represented. The senseless slaughter left its mark on Hemingway and his contemporaries.

Nowadays, European youth are cut to the quick by the senseless senselessness of believing in nothing while criticizing everything. Eastern European newcomers doing the jobs Western Europeans just won't do while Muslims nibble away at the fabric of their once liberal societies. God has returned to the continent, but he's angry, vengeful and straight out of the 7th Century.
America remains a hyperpower...

Perhaps European unemployment is a natural consequence of too much taxation, regulation, immigration? But nobody wants to go there.

So What's The Solution?

Glorious Militarism! War is the answer. Enlist those young folks, build up armies and navies and go conquer the benighted lands that are causing the world so much trouble. Yes, another crusade! Only this time, not for the Pope and Christianity, but rather for classical liberalism.

We need a new crusade, a reconquista of Classical Liberal values, and these aimless Europeans raised on Sartre's absurdities are just the ones to do it!

A new crusade: For beer, women drivers, Pork bratwurst, bikinis and agnosticism. Sink those pirates ships! Those that don't die in the fusillade can swim to shore if the sharks don't get them!

Take up the white man's burden! For hashish cafes, prostitution, blasphemy, strip bars and the sneering morality of no morals! Blast those illiberal terrorist hideouts!

I've often said you can't kill 'em all. But history has shown that you can kill enough of them to where they're no longer a problem. And you can grab some glory and maybe rescue your civilization in the process.

Or you could just cling to the fag end of a clapped out culture and hitch your self esteem to a football club...

Cracks in the European Facade

Bruce Bawer has written a thoughtful City Journal piece on politics in Europe. Unbridled immigration championed by the left is changing the face of the continent: overburdened social services, gangs of angry young men contemptuous of everything Western, rampant crime and domestic abuse, demands for Sharia law...

It's scary, leading some to look to the right at the ballot box. But there are scary things over there too, so voters are stuck.
...over the last three decades, social-democratic Europe’s political, cultural, academic, and media elites have presided over, and vigorously defended, a vast wave of immigration from the Muslim world—the largest such influx in human history.

According to the London Times, the number of Muslims in the U.K. climbed by half a million between 2004 and 2008 alone—a rate of growth ten times that of the rest of that country’s population.

Yet instead of encouraging these immigrants to integrate and become part of their new societies, Western Europe’s governments have allowed them to form self-segregating parallel societies run more or less according to sharia.

Many of the residents of these patriarchal enclaves subsist on government benefits, speak the language of their adopted country poorly or not at all, despise pluralistic democracy, look forward to Europe’s incorporation into the House of Islam, and support—at least in spirit—terrorism against the West.
Europe's strength has become its weakness: It's passive tolerance makes it ripe for social conquest by aggressive bearers of intolerant dogma.

Slouching Towards Socialism, European Style

Europe is not the Liberal Democratic paradise we imagine it to be. Two articles explain why. Both have human nature at their root

European free speech has been devoured by fear of angry Muslims. Initiative? Quashed by statist policies. Freedom of mobility? It's trapped in a 600 square foot apartment the average European family lives in. Even if the occupants could escape, the lawnmower with doors they call a car is either upside down burning or it's tank is empty because petrol is four times as expensive as in the States.

Charles Murray identifies the factors that separate us from the Europeans:
First, the problem with the European model, namely: It drains too much of the life from life.

To become a source of deep satisfaction, a human activity has to meet some stringent requirements. It has to have been important (we don’t get deep satisfaction from trivial things). You have to have put a lot of effort into it (hence the cliché “nothing worth having comes easily”). And you have to have been responsible for the consequences.
When government does everything, it robs humans of the happiness derived from a sense of satisfaction with the fruits of their own efforts.
If we ask what are the institutions through which human beings achieve deep satisfactions in life, the answer is that there are just four: family, community, vocation, and faith.

...the goal of social policy is to ensure that those institutions are robust and vital. And that’s what’s wrong with the European model. It doesn’t do that. It enfeebles every single one of them.
Think about it: Government has replaced fathers with monthly checks and social workers. It's policies discourage parents from picking up hammers and paint to repair the neighborhood school and instead conditions them to look to Washington. President Obama mentioned this in his speech to Congress, with the First Lady hugging the little girl from South Carolina who went straight to Washington because her school needed some work.

Government largess has crowded out or co-opted faith-based charities. It has forced churches to water down their faith if they want to collect government money and avoid government censure. Public moralities like environmentalism and political correctness trump private conscience.

Euro-Socialism: High Taxes, Cramped Quarters, and Crappy Service

Michael Totten, indy war correspondent extraordinaire, writes about possibly the worst battle he's ever been involved in: The Alitalia baggage handler's strike in Italy. This is a long but highly entertaining read. Those who have actually lived in socialized Western Europe will be nodding their heads and grinning ruefully as the memories come flooding back.

This is also instructive for Americans cherishing the thought of 100% unionization, free health care for all, and guaranteed job security only European style soft socialism can provide. An up front encounter with the real Europe will disabuse any normal person from fantasies they may have entertained. Just like a person or a family, a society can appear serene on the surface, but when adversity strikes, the true colors fly.

Totten and the other stranded passengers were alternately shouted at, ignored and lied to by cowardly workers who knew they were getting paid regardless of what happened. The moral of the story is that people who are guaranteed a job tend to do it half-assed, and those given no responsibility for the success of their company will shamelessly avoid seizing it when the company's reputation is at stake.

Anybody who wants to see this go on in the United States is crazy.

A Secular Jew in a Muslim Land

The foundation of Western Civilization is infested with termites, and the structure is sagging at the northeast corner...

Here's a sad commentary from a young British woman at the front lines of the East-West culture clash. The liberal bastion that was Europe is becoming quite illiberal thanks to its booming population of 8th century obscurantist, misogynist haters.
I am a secular, liberal, identifying British Jew. My parents would have taken great pleasure if my acting talents had landed me a starring role in the primary school nativity play; on Christmas Day, we gather at home eating smoked salmon bagels and mince pies. There is no conflict whatsoever between my religion and nationality.

In August 2001, I turned 21 and my parents gave me a Star of David necklace. Then a month later, the world changed and my mother, with remarkable foresight, began her campaign to rescind the gift, begging me to take it off because she was frightened it would make me a target in the wake of mounting evidence that fanatical Islamism was tightening its grip on the country. My argument was always the same - when I am no longer safe being identifiably Jewish on the tube, I don't want to live in England.

Now it's happening and I am devastated...(Read entire article)

Europe: Where Are Your Black Leaders?

The Euro-racists reveal themselves. They cheer Mr. Obama's victory, but also make snide comments about his race.

Europeans are fun-loving people and are great to have as friends. They are also colossal hypocrites. These enlightened "social democrats" routinely trade work with one another and barter under the table to dodge the confiscatory tax rates.

Egalitarianism is crushed by a rigid class system. Upward mobility is almost non-existent. If you were born a plumber's son chances are you'll die a plumber. And Europeans are tribal: Not only do they sneer at people from other countries, they don't think too much of those from the next town over, either.

They loudly criticize CIA "black sites" while quietly hosting them. They rend their garments and shake accusing fingers at us over Guantanamo, but then refuse to take back their citizens and residents we have locked up there. They love looking down their noses condescendingly at us while lounging under our security umbrella.

I had African friends when I lived in Europe, and they all had first-hand accounts of Euro-racism. It sometimes manifests itself in low-brow acts such as football fans throwing bananas at their star players. More often it is the quiet, tacit kind that only works when everybody is silently in on it, sub-rosa, so nobody actually has to say anything incriminating out loud.

Yes, a German or a Brit will share a beer with a darker-skinned fellow human being while lounging at table on the old continent's cobblestone streets. But it goes no deeper than that. True societal integration has not happened there to the degree it has in the US. European minorities are much more segregated, physically and socially, than in this country.

I did not vote for President-elect Obama, but the comments by these effete, inbred Euroweenies, while not surprising, are upsetting. They have no business trashing my president. Yes, they're cheering on the outside, but they're jeering, hypocritical racists on the inside.

Man Shot for Wearing Obama Shirt!!!

Why do the weird attacks happen mostly in Europe? Over here, when someone comes unhinged, it's with a high powered rifle and by God they make sure people know they're PO'd.

On the Olde Continent, a perpetrator will throw a pie in some government poobah's face or pepper someone with a BB gun, which later gets describes more ominously as a gas-powered ball bearing firearm. Then there's your drunken soccer hooligan mob swarm, 16th century sword attack or butter knife stabbing.

The London Daily Mail reports:
Dube Egwuatu was buying a mobile telephone top-up card...when the gunman confronted him and glared at the top, which carries an image of the Democrat US presidential candidate underneath the legend 'Believe'.

The man then launched into a tirade of racist slurs, shouting 'I f***ing hate n*****s' and urging 36-year-old Mr Egwuatu to leave the shop with him.
The attacker then fired the gas-powered ball-bearing pistol three times, hitting the civil servant in the face, hand and shoulder.
Translation: An unemployable skinhead with a 3rd grade education plinked a black immigrant with a BB gun.

Missing from the story was the reaffirmation that world citizen Obama really is the World's candidate. Throwing off our moonshine-guzzling, racist hick past and electing Mr. Obama is the only way to prevent more of these egregious BB gun attacks.

Cowboys and Soccer Fans

Like many cliches, it is trite but true that US - European relations resemble a bad marriage. Here's are three articles that examine the current state of affairs.

Former Soviet States look westward, but they are staring past Europe and fixing their gaze upon the US.
http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,575238,00.html

Are Europeans really about to stand up on their hind legs and tell Vlad the Impaler enough is enough? Sounds like it, but I'm not holding my breath.
