Flying Naked: TSA Goes Hardcore

** CAUTION:  Unhinged DeviledEgg Rant! **
TSA (Thousands Standing Around) now get to check out naked chicks in between wanding old ladies and releasing classified manuals on-line

All because Western Civilization doesn't have the collective testicular fortitude to tell suspected barbarians they can't fly.  That and the fact that incompetent bureaucratic boobs didn't have the foresight or initiative to merge the terrorist database with the no fly list.

Flying is not a right, it is a privilege, like driving.  You meet a certain profile, you don't fly.  Period.  Ride your goat, Ahmed!

The Founders set up a government to protect the liberties of free and moral people.  We lock bad people up so good people can go about their lives without facing TSA screenings at the grocery store.  People who criminally misbehave are removed from civilized society so good citizens can proceed with their liberties and human dignity intact.

We fail at the global level
We should not be letting bad people from uncivilized areas cross the pale into the civilized world and then be at liberty to smash and slash and burn.  But it's too late now, the barn door's been open for 50 years, so the next step is profiling.

Ordinary American citizens should be presumed innocent until proven guilty
Foreigners who fit certain profiles (based on country of origin, travel habits, etc) should be presumed suspicious until demonstrating credentials to the contrary.  Go stick a wand up their wazoos and leave Americans with a clean background alone!

Outsource Homeland Security to the Professionals

While a rabid, identifiable group loudly foams at the mouth in murderous hatred of the west, TSA (Thousands Standing Around) focuses on Grannies with walkers and children in strollers.  The cheapest and best thing we could do to keep ourselves safe would be to outsource "Homeland Security."  Fire the overpaid, incompetent bureaucrats and turn over airline safety to people who know how to get it done:  The Israelis.

The Piddle Class Speaks

For a European-style, piddle down your leg, violate our rights, anything to make us feel safe perspective, read this Wapo Editiorial, where they beg for more strip searches and human cattle drives at our nation's airports.  I won't besmudge my blog by repeating any of it here.

Real Men Don't Pull Punches
Here are my favorite comments on the subject.  They've said it so much better than I can:

Tunku Varadarajan (Cool name, even cooler beard)
instead of denying my 10-year-old boy the right to take a pee when his destination is a whole hour away, why can’t we be radically more careful about those we let on board our planes?

Abdulmutallab’s name was not on the terrorist “no-fly” list, which has fewer than 4,000 names in total. It was, however, on a larger database of some 550,000 individuals, called TIDE (Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment)—and it was inserted there, it seems, only last month. Why is anyone on this list allowed to board a plane to the United States? (Daily Beast - Tunku Varadarajan)

Christopher Hitchens (My all-time favorite atheist lefty)
Why do we fail to detect or defeat the guilty, and why do we do so well at collective punishment of the innocent?

The answer to the first question is: Because we can't—or won't. The answer to the second question is: Because we can.

The fault here is not just with our endlessly incompetent security services, who give the benefit of the doubt to people who should have been arrested long ago or at least had their visas and travel rights revoked.

It is also with a public opinion that sheepishly bleats to be made to "feel safe." The demand to satisfy that sad illusion can be met with relative ease if you pay enough people to stand around and stare significantly at the citizens' toothpaste.  (Christopher Hitchens - The Truth...)

The System Works... for Overpaid Public Servants

A Terrorist arrives in the US, lights his fizzle bomb, is tackled by a guy from the Netherlands, and burns his nads in the process...

...and Grand High Poobah of Heimatland Sicherheit Janet Napoleonitano says "The system worked" in letting the little jihadi with premature detonation issues board a US bound airliner with explosives.

I'd hate to see what a system failure looks like:  A free New York vacation for Bin Laden and twenty of his closest friends and goats?  And all the tactical nukes they can fit on the plane?

Nigerian Bank Account E-Mail Scheme Exposed!
The father of the Explodus Interruptus jihadi is the former Nigerian Minister of Banking.  Rumor has it he's behind all those e-mail scams that begin with "I have millions in a Nigerian bank account and I need your help..."

In other news...

Senator Tom Harkin (Socialist - Iowa) is impatient that the Democrats may not be able to completely trample the constitution before the voters step in, so he's introducing a bill that would limit filibusters and reduce everything in the Senate to 50 votes, versus the 60 it now requires for cloture.

Some libtard commented on the article, whining that Republicans were making it SO HARD for the Democrats to ram their socialist programs up our collective wazoo.  Makes me want to slap him upside the head with a bound copy of the Federalist Papers...

Muslim Immigration: Invitation to Murder?

Why are we allowing Muslims to immigrate to our country?

Nobody else is asking the obvious question, so I will. With all the terror plots in the news, I think it's a relevant question.

This is not an anti-Muslim screed
One of my favorite bosses of all time is a Muslim. He was just one of tens of thousands to honorably serve his country in the US armed forces. If white Eastern European Christians (my background) were blowing stuff up and cutting off heads all over the world, I would call for an immigration moratorium on them as well.

All Muslims are not terrorists, but outside of Tim McVeigh and the Earth Liberation nuts, all recent terrorist activity on our soil has involved Muslims. Given that there is an
8 in 10 chance that an immigrant from the Muslim world hates our Yankee cowboy guts, why do we let even a single one immigrate?

I know there are good Muslims there who want to come here, but why take a chance? The State Department is obviously no good at separating the good from the dangerous. We hope we're getting Fouad Ajamis. Instead we end up with Najibulla Zazis, angry young men cruising Denver beauty parlors collecting peroxide to make bombs.

Selective Immigration is not Discrimination
Discrimination, as legally defined in US Code, has nothing to do with immigration policy. If we're not free to choose who to let in to our country, then we've lost our sovereignty. But once we let someone in, they are protected by the constitution, and plotting terrorists know that and use it to their advantage. Are we stupid?  Yes we are.

We Owe Them Nothing, especially not a US passport
Some say we owe the Iraqis and Afghanis because we invaded their countries. Bull! They owe us! For the blood and treasure we've spent trying to give them a shot at improving their little corner of hell on earth.

Besides, we already have enough home-grown idiots, why import more? Why bring hatred, petty grievances and religious chauvinism to our doorstep?

It may be too late for Europe (I pray it's not), but we still have a chance to save our unique Western civilization from the clutches of those who want to destroy it.

A Tortured Charade

We are not safer, and the President's Guantanamo posturing, along with the release of the "torture memos" only puts us more in danger.

Cheney and Obama went head-to-head a few weeks ago over the treatment of captured terrorsts, with the former VP administering a masterful schooling to the President. Gerald Seib sums the issue up quite succinctly in his definitive WSJ analysis:

He (Cheney) said the release "was flatly contrary to the national security interest of the United States," adding that it gave terrorists "a lengthy insert for their training manual."

Mr. Obama said releasing the memos in no way helped aspiring terrorists train against U.S. tactics, since the interrogation techniques were now banned by the White House.

Cheney is right. Obama is wrong. Here is how the memos help any terrorist going up against the US:

The memos reveal our medically-supervised, careful regard for human life and the law, what with the fake walls, anti-whiplash collars and whatnot. Oliver North said it best. I paraphrase from memory, with my own embellishments added in, so apologies to the Colonel:

These techniques were intended to scare the crap out of the scraggly bearded rabble we scooped up off the battlefield. Killing and torturing is against our values, so we cannot do those things; but we sure as hell can make captured combatants think that we will torture or kill them. So we scare the crap out of them hoping they will spill the beans. We crafted a deliberately well-thought out plan intended to put mortal fear into them, but the cat's out of the bag now.

What's the lesson?

Imagine the following advice being dispensed in a thick Arabic accent to a young jihadi: Americans are weak. They can't even bring themselves to kill their mortal enemies. If you're captured, take the fifth, ask for your ACLU lawyer and an International Red Cross representative. You can ride out whatever they throw at you while reclining at table eating halal. Accuse them of Koran abuse while you're at it. They will not kill you, they will not harm you. They will only try to scare you with threats that we now know are empty.

That's it folks. The Obama administration has emptied the toolbag. Feel safer now?

Solution to Anti-Abortion Terrorism

By now, we've all heard about the murder of late-term abortionist George Tiller. Murdering and bombing in the name of God is rare in this country, but it is not unheard of. Without pausing to consider the motives of the perpetrators, some call it terrorism.

Abortion laws in this country have inflamed the religious sensibilities of the populace, and an infinitesimal percentage, egged on by Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh and others, just can't control themselves, so great is their outrage. We saw the end result of this on Sunday.

The only way to extirpate this violence from our land forever is to completely and unequivocally outlaw abortion in all forms. Call it the Muslim Cartoon Precedent.

Time to follow the European-UN-US Liberal line of thinking and capitulate to the anti-abortion movement. Just as Jihadi hate-preachers and their religion cannot be blamed for Islamic terror, we cannot blame Chrisitanity, nor Rush, nor O'Reilly, nor the anti-abortion Christians for this crime. We must try to understand and empathize with those who lash out in religious fervor at the abortionists who so flagrantly transgress the laws of God.

Better yet, we must refrain from offending the Christians. The only way to do that is to ban this abhorrent practice. For, if O'Reilly is to blame for putting the gun in the murderer's hand, the act of abortion itself must be logically held as the root cause. For, without it, O'Reilly would not talk about it and the violently deranged would not dance to his deadly tune.

Outlawing all abortions is the only way to end this senseless violence!

I am Silverfiddle and I approve of this message.

Home Grown Terrorists

Four pinheads from the Bronx decide they want to be terrorists

The FBI said the Muslim suspects were angry and full of hate for America.

"Hatred of the West. The leader of the group, James Cromitie was concerned about deaths at the hands of the U.S. military in Afghanistan," and also expressed anti-Jewish sentiment, Joseph Demarest the head of the New York FBI said.

But these guys were stupider than your average terrorists. You could even call them the Three Stooges of terrorism, with all due respect to Larry, Curly and Moe:
Agents and police watched Wednesday night as the suspects allegedly planted what they thought were bombs outside two Jewish community centers in Riverdale, a Bronx, New York neighborhood. In one case the suspected terrorists planted a bomb inside a parked car. However, officials said the suspects were actually using fake explosives given to them in an earlier sting operation to make sure they didn't get their hands on real bombs.

Authorities said they had the plotters under surveillance since June of 2008 and there was "no chance" the alleged scheme could succeed. They credited the work of a long time informant with keeping tabs on the group.

The four suspects were identified as James Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams and Laguerre Payen, of Newburgh in upstate New York, where authorities were conducting raids at their homes, sources said.
You can see the pictures of the men here.

I've been to Afghanistan, I've met Afghanis, and I can say with complete confidence that these men are not from Afghanistan.

These men are societal ass-warts, raised to adulthood in this great country, mooching and robbing all the way, only to turn and bite the hand that has fed them. And all for a far-off country that never did a damn thing for them.

They love Afghanistan? I say turn them over to that country so they can be imprisoned there. That should clear their minds and erase any romanticism they may have for Central Asia.

Stones

The US, along with a few like-minded allies, is the only country left with the balls to confront bad people, but that is changing. For the worst.

Do the Russians and the Chinese have balls? Sure, but when they find bad guys, they turn them to their own use (Think Iran's Mullas, North Korea).

The US simply wipes the bad guys out or politically rehabilitates them.

Look at who we've rehabilitated in just the very recent past: Anbar Sunnis, Salvadorian leftist rebels, Nicaraguan Sandinistas, Noriega's political party. These were all US "enemies" who have been restored within their own political systems. How often does that happen in the Russian, Chinese or Middle Eastern sphere?

Pirates and International Terrorists can't be Rehabilitated, Only Eliminated

Just ask the first Democratic president, Thomas Jefferson. He knew how to eliminate international threats to the US: Dispatch the US Navy to kill the bad guys. C'mon Democrats! More Jefferson, less Carter! We risk looking so weak that our enemies will become emboldened .

Why Do International Gangsters Run Free?

I don't just blame President Obama's scraping and bowing before tyrants and the international weak sisters who enable them; I blame European governments who are ashamed to fight over anything bigger than a soccer match.

If we had a strong coalition of Western powers, along with Japan and India, that unapologetically killed bad guys and broke their stuff everywhere we found them, crap like piracy and international terrorism would cease.

As it is now, bad guys pit Mommy (Europe and their UN weak sisters) against Daddy (US). Dad's got the belt, but mommy begs him not to use it, and little Johnny Jihad skips off to his next marketplace bombing.

I blame Obama, I blame snotty Europeans who criticize us while lounging under our security umbrella, I blame any nation that is ashamed to stand up for what's right. To their credit, France and India are are not putting up with this crap. The US military could squash these Somali rats if only we weren't afraid of offending the International House of Corruption and Scandal known as the UN.

The only people left who have any balls are the bad guys. Guess where this leads?

An Apostate President & BDS Sufferers

Mr. Obama is an apostate, according to the pious headcutters who want to kill us. Even this fact doesn't convince the BDS sufferers that terrorism is a real threat. I was arguing with them over at the Washington Post. The subject was Guantanamo, and the the anti-Bush vitriol was at full froth.

Although I think the president's terrorism strategy is open to legitimate criticism, I just can't understand the red-faced, diaper rash ranting Bush hatred. I also cannot understand how someone can mock the terrorist threat as an invention of Bush, Cheney, and those evil neocons.

It was a dangerous world before Mr. Bush became president, and it will still be dangerous when he leaves office. A little Googling confirms this.

So what's the solution? The wackadoos attacking the president never seem to get that far. Can we at least agree on a constitutionally ironclad approach to terrorism that is politically and diplomatically viable?

You think things are bad now, wait until we have an apostate president.

Yes, We Are Safer!

John Hinderaker over at http://www.blogger.com/www.powerlineblog.com has written a piece showing that, despite what some presidential candidates are telling you, we are safer than before the Iraq invasion. Please follow the link and give it a read.

The Hyperpower and the Hypocrites

Earth Times reports we just returned six more well-fed, well-rested Guantanamo prisoners back to the 8th century societies they came from. One paragraph from the article stood out:

“About 270 detainees are still being held at Guantanamo. The Defence Department said it was still looking for countries that would take in about 65 prisoners deemed eligible for release. The US has released about 500 prisoners since 2002, but has often struggled to find countries that will accept the detainees and sought guarantees that they will not be tortured."

Europe clamors for us to shut down Guantanamo, but turns the other way, studiously inattentive, whistling absentmindedly, hands in pockets when we address the subject of repatriating the European ones back to the old continent. Men with strong British names like Mohammad and Farook may never play darts on the old sod again. A certain Herr Al-Jihadi, of the old and venerable Hamburg Jihadis, fears he will never again cast his bushy-browed gaze upon the land of Beer and Bratwurst. While refusing to ease the plight of their imprisoned countrymen, the Euros also insist men from delightful Middle Eastern and South Asian countries may not be repatriated for fear they will be tortured. So here we are in a logical cul-de-sac: Can’t keep them in prison, can’t turn them loose. The Euros and the Internationales are good at scolding bad behavior, but come up a little short on solutions.

I don’t know what the alternative is. They sure as hell can’t be turned loose on American soil (of course, that is the conclusion the Bush-haters have steered us into.) I don’t even want them stinking up American jails. Maybe we could turn them over to the men and women in powdered wigs at the Hague. Things have been pretty quiet there since Slobo kicked the bucket. For those who need a reminder, the Clinton administration cast Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic as the demon in the Balkan tragedy-drama. He was perfect for the part: He looked mean, had an evil-sounding name, and had directed the killing of Muslims (just ignore the fact that some of his victims were terrorists.) We dragged him to The Hague, where he commenced to making a shambles of international justice with his long-winded angry tirades. The Euros stood around looking helplessly at one another and flapping their arms futilely in response. Anyway, I think the Hague is the perfect place to wrap this whole debacle up. Wasn’t it Karl Marx who said something about history repeating itself, first as tragedy, secondly as farce?

The only alternative left is to interrogate future captives on the battlefield then shoot them dead after getting what we want out of them. There’s probably some international law against that…

Remember rendition? You know, secret CIA flights (probably in black planes with meat hooks hanging from the ceiling) that carried to their doom poor innocent men who accidentally stumbled onto the battle field with rocket launchers in their hands? Remember talk about how the US had turned the world into our own global Gulag Archipelago? Why aren’t we hearing about that anymore?

Here’s your answer: Old Europe was complicit all along.

It’s a game we play. The US plays good cop, and bad cop, while Europe plays the moral cop, blowing the whistle on the actions we take to protect ourselves and them. It’s all part of the deal: European governments cravenly cooperate and egg us on in private while criticizing us in public. If the Euros and the Internationales want us to adopt humane (according to them) policies, then they need to grow up and take some responsibility for their actions, or inaction, as the case may be. We can argue the legalities of Guantanamo, but let’s get all the cards on the table first. Fritz and Basil still have a few up their sleeves.

Report: Saddam Aided Terrorists

DoD just released the declassified report on Saddam and Terrorism, produced by The Institute for Defense Analyses. Funny how the same document can spawn conflicting headlines. Apparently having only read the executive summary, McClatchy news exonerates Saddam in its headline. The Australian dug a little deeper, reporting that the document reveals Iraqi support for “parts of Al Qaida.” I downloaded the first part of the report from http://www.fas.org/irp/eprint/iraqi/index.html.

The McClatchy link shows typical, perfunctory reportage, while the Australian provides timely context. Neither is wrong, but the contrast in styles and choice of emphasis is stark. Finally, below the links is the executive summary. The bolded parentheses are mine. Enjoy!

McClatchy says:

Exhaustive review finds no link between Saddam, al Qaida

The Australian Says:

Saddam, the terrorist's friend

Executive Summary

The Iraqi Perspectives Project (IPP) review of captured Iraqi documents uncovered strong evidence that links the regime of Saddam Hussein to regional and global terrorism. Despite their incompatible long-term goals, many terrorist movements and Saddam found a common enemy in the United States. At times these organizations worked together, trading access for capability. In the period after the 1991 Gulf War, the regime of Saddam Hussein supported a complex and increasingly disparate mix of pan-Arab revolutionary causes and emerging pan-Islamic radical movements. The relationship between Iraq and forces of pan-Arab socialism was well known and was in fact one of the defining qualities of the Ba'ath movement.

But the relationships between Iraq and the groups advocating radical pan-Islamic doctrines are much more complex. This study found no "smoking gun" (i.e., direct connection) between Saddam's Iraq and al Qaeda. Saddam's interest in, and support for, non-state actors was spread across a variety of revolutionary, liberation, nationalist, and Islamic terrorist organizations. Some in the regime recognized the potential high internal and external costs of maintaining relationships with radical Islamic groups, yet they concluded that in some cases, the benefits of association outweighed the risks. A review of available Iraqi documents indicated the following:

The Iraqi regime was involved in regional and international terrorist operations prior to OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. The predominant tar gets of Iraqi state terror operations were Iraqi citizens, both inside and outside of Iraq.

• On occasion, the Iraqi intelligence services directly targeted the regime's perceived enemies, including non-Iraqis. Non-Iraqi casualties often resulted from Iraqi sponsorship of non-governmental terrorist groups.

Saddam's regime often cooperated directly, albeit cautiously, with terrorist groups when they believed such groups could help advance Iraq's long-term goals. The regime carefully recorded its connections to Palestinian terror organizations in numerous government memos. One such example documents Iraqi financial support to families of suicide bombers in Gaza and the West Bank.

• State sponsorship of terrorism became such a routine tool of state power that Iraq developed elaborate bureaucratic processes to monitor progress and accountability in the recruiting, training, and resourcing of terrorists. Examples include the regime's development, construction, certification, and training for car bombs and suicide vests in 1999 and 2000.

From the beginning of his rise to power, one of Saddam's major objectives was to shift the regional balance of power favorably towards Iraq. After the 1991 Gulf War, pursuing this objective motivated Saddam and his regime to increase their cooperation with-and attempts to manipulate-Islamic fundamentalists and related terrorist organizations. Documents indicate that the regime's use of terrorism was standard practice, although not always successful. From 1991 through 2003, the Saddam regime regarded inspiring, sponsoring, directing, and executing acts of terrorism as an element of state power.
