Colorado Reaction to Dem Health Care? Revulsion

People from both sides of the political spectrum — and apolitical consumers — said they were deeply skeptical about the health care bill being put together by Congress and the White House.

About 800,000 Colorado residents, representing one-sixth of the state’s population, are uninsured. The state’s politics are mixed and somewhat unpredictable. Colorado has a sizable contingent of people who want a single-payer government-financed health care system, as well as libertarians and Tea Party protesters opposed to big government.

Few of those interviewed here expect to see direct benefits from the legislation. Many complained of sweetheart deals done to win votes in the Senate. Liberals and conservatives alike said Congress was too influenced by special interests.

Here is a typical Colorado woman:

Tamara L. Kirch, who is uninsured and stands to benefit from the legislation, bristled at the proposed requirement to buy insurance.

“We have a frontier mentality,” Ms. Kirch said. “I don’t want the government telling me what to do.” (She feels the same way about abortion: “The government should not tell a woman what to do with her womb.”)

The final part of the article inadvertently makes the case for congress dropping the whole failed project and leaving it to the states to innovate and develop unique solutions that work for them:

Colorado has been an incubator of innovation. Denver Health is considered a model for public hospitals. Health economists point to Grand Junction, Colo., to show how collaboration by doctors and hospitals can produce high-quality, low-cost care.

Bottom Line:  This is bad for Democrats in Colorado.

I Went to My First Political Event!

As most of you know, I am a career military man, recently retired.  I don't mention it too much because I wasn't a hero or anything like that.  Having been in the Air Force my entire adult life, I had always avoided political events.

Well, I'm a private citizen now, so I put on my ostrich skin boots, American eagle bolo tie, and with the sexy Mrs. Silverfiddle on my arm, I went to a candidate's forum featuring Republican US Senate hopefuls Jane Norton and Ken Buck.

Buck is the underdog, but I came away a fan after initially leaning towards Norton because she is the establishment candidate with Reagan administration and Lieutenant Governor experience.  Nothing against Jane.  If she beats Ken in the March Caucus I'm voting for her, and the praise I heap on Ken Buck is no way is a slap at her.  The only bad thing I can say about her is she sounded "canned," like a well-polished politician, while Buck had a more sincere and populist patina.

Ken Buck's unrehearsed but articulate and candid manner really impressed me. I got to look him in the eye and shake his hand as we discussed the ACLU and La Raza attacks against him for going after illegal aliens involved in identity theft.  He's a sincere man with a populist streak.  Here are some random thoughts from the evening:

The woman sitting next to my wife announced that she recently abandoned the Democratic party!  We welcomed her warmly into the Republican Party bosom as a church would welcome a reformed drunk.

The Moderator Led Off With Two Of My Questions!

Amy, the ResistNet District Coordinator for our congressional district, was the moderator, and she started off by asking the candidates two of my questions!  One concerned the 9th and 10th Amendments to the constitution, and the other invited their views on Article 1, Section 8 of the US Constitution, specifically the enumerated powers and how broadly the candidates interpreted the interstate commerce and the general welfare clause.

Both candidates gave good answers, but Buck specifically mentioned housing and schools as issues the federal government should not be involved in.

Mr. Buck also spoke eloquently of avoiding foreign entanglements, citing George Washington.  No more ambiguous congressional kinda sorta approvals of some type of presidential action.  Declare specific objectives, get the troops in and then bring them home.  No more endless commitments.

To hearty applause, he gently poked at John McCain as one of the Senators he would not be seeking out.  Jim DeMint and Dr. Tom Coburn are more his style.

He stated flatly that George Bush spent too much and grew government too much (more applause), and then added on that Barack Obama is expanding upon this madness at a frightening pace (applause increased).

I could hear echoes of pre-17th Amendment days in his vow to meet with Colorado's state representatives at least quarterly to get feedback on how federal policy was affecting the state.

The evening was capped off  by the exciting announcement that Scott Brown had been declared the winner in the Massachusetts senate race.

I urge each of you to get involved in politics in your state and congressional district. 

Mountain West was Democratic Pipe Dream

The Mountain West has never been a liberal place.  Progressive refugees fleeing the messes they've made in California and other collapsing liberal bastions were all that even gave the modern day Democratic party a chance out here.  Unable to learn a lesson, these escapees demand their new home provide the same big government, liberal nannyism that destroyed the place they came from. 

Gripped by Obamamania, normally common-sense Coloradans joined forces with the liberal rabble and swept Obama into office, voting in liberal senator Mark Udall to boot.

The Democratic party can continue to rely on clueless college students and their naive professors whose real-life ignorance guides their politics.  But outside the huddled masses of effete Denver metrosexuals, Boulder neo-hippies, and Fort Collins ivory tower pseudo intellectuals, the rest of the state is pretty middle of the road.

That accounts for Democrat Ken Salazar winning his senate race a few years back.  He's not a wild-eyed liberal.  As soon as I saw his campaign commercial and that of republican Pete Coors, I knew Salazar, a rancher in a cowboy hat, would win.  Pete Coors' image, perhaps unfairly, is that of a detached multi-millionaire firmly ensconsed in the foothills of Golden overlooking Denver who deigned to descend from his beer empire citadel.  It was no contest.

Today, Mr. Salazar announced he will not run for Governor.  He had Obama's blessing, and it would have been a great opportunity to return home and continue public service without the DC hassles.  The only logical reason for him not seizing the opportunity is because he couldn't win.  That's a really bad sign for Democrats in this state.

The hopium smoke has dissipated, the euphoria is gone.  Look for a Democrat retreat in the Mountain West.  We just don't need all that coddling...

Chicago of the Rockies

The liberal democratic edifice is creaking and collapsing like the rotten, decrepit house that it is

Here in Colorado, governor Bill "Tax" Ritter has brought hyper-partisan Chicago style politics to Denver, and Coloradans are sick of it, driving him to announce he will not to seek reelection.  Rumor has it the Chicago-DC crime syndicate that now controls the White House told him to get out.  What a blow to this most sycophantic Obama Tool!

This after Stephanie Villafuerte withdraws from consideration for nomination as US Attorney for Colorado.  She withdrew because she was involved in dirty deals surrounding Ritter when he was Denver DA running for governor.

Senator Jeff Sessions (R-Alabama), in light of new damning information, made a simple request:  That Villafuerte face questioning one more time by the FBI.  She and her LibDem sponsor Senator Mark Udall caved like a wet paper bag, muttering angry words about "politics."

On the national scene, Chris Dodd, having done hundreds of billions of dollars worth of damage to our nation, feels he's accomplished enough and will retire.  Senator Byron Dorgan of North Dakota is following him out the door.

Americans have watched in horror as Chicago Democratic Machine politics grips this nation.  Indeed, DC has been an embarrassing bipartisan hog trough for decades now, but Pelosi, Reid and Obama have brought the shameless tableau into high relief.  All but the most blindly partisan have turned away in disgust.

The icing on the cake
As a criminal enterprise falls apart, the malefactors begin turning on one another:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, piqued with White House pressure to accept the Senate health reform bill, threw a rare rhetorical elbow at President Barack Obama Tuesday, questioning his commitment to his 2008 campaign promises.

Balloon Dad is a douche bag

I hope they throw every charge in the book at him.  Our publicity-obsessed culture is out of control and it's time we made an example out of someone.

He went too far when he led us to believe his small boy was in that balloon.  Fame crazed people think nothing of the feelings or emotions of others; it's all about them.  

He could have made a splash by simply releasing his stupid UFO balloon over the city of Denver

Denver is full of gullible liberal transplants who voted for Obama, so we know they would have fell for it.  Hell, they probably would have chased it down and tried to befriend the little green men they believed to be inside, begging them to not hurt us and demanding schools include UFO people in their diversity training. 

Colorado Californicated

I have lived in Colorado on and off for 25 years. This used to be a good libertarian-type state. We had repubs and we had dems, but they were all pretty much middle of the road, live and let live while looking out for the state. Now the ObamaDems have taken over and they are trying to tax and regulate the energy industry out of existence.

I recently returned to my home from Denver, Colorado. As I crossed the land I noticed the majestic peaks of the Colorado Rockies from Interstate 70.

As I started to descend what is known as the Western Slope I noticed the mighty Colorado River. I also noticed the various oil platforms that were scattered along the canyon from Glenwood Springs down to Grand Junction, Colorado.

As I crossed into eastern Utah I noticed the varied desert geology of the Colorado Plateau. I saw from a distance Arches National Park at the base of the La Sal Mountains. On the desert flats I could see oil and natural gas drilling rigs and pipelines.

What I saw across the varied terrain amazed me. The beauty of the land was not marred by the energy production that I saw, but rather it complimented it.

We are becoming californicated by all the refugees fleeing the liberal mess they made in California. Incapable of learning anything, they do the same things here hoping for a different result, and there are plenty of Coloradans jumping right in to help them.

These ignorant people fetishize the environment because they have never raised livestock or hunted or fished in it. We are a beautiful state, and we make a lot of money off of that from tourism. Of course no one want to rape the land. We've had energy and tourism side by side for over 50 years and it's worked pretty well.

Governor Bill Owens and the GOP left us a surplus. Gov Tax Ritter and the Dem0crats have run us into debt while nibbling away at our anti-tax laws.

Colorado is a state to watch. We were gripped by the galloping Hope and Change insanity known as Obama Mania, but reality may be setting in. I think how Colorado votes in 2010 could be a harbinger of things to come.

I pray to God we wake up before we've completely Californicated ourselves.

The Justice Department has just told the state of Georgia that their system to prevent illegal aliens from voting is discriminatory.

Here in Colorado, the ACLU has sued the Weld County DA for breaking an illegal alien identity theft ring by executing a search warrant on an income tax preparer. 1,300 illegal aliens were found to be engaged in identity theft in Greeley, Colorado, but they're still living and working there, violating the law with impunity while the county is bogged down with a lawsuit costing it over $100,000.

An Oklahoma pharmacist faces murder charges for shooting and killing a miscreant who attempted to rob his store and kill the employees. You can see the video on YouTube and judge for yourself. After some major stress like that, I can understand his actions completely, regardless of what the dead perp's grieving family had to say: "He was a good boy, he liked to draw pictures... Fell in with the wrong crowd... Didn't deserve to die this way... Bla bla bla." He's smokin' a dog turd in hell now...

Are we crazy? Yes we are.
